Chapter 15 The Club's Perverted Nature

Chapter 15 The Club's Perverted Nature

The private hospital was eerily quiet at night, with the smell of disinfectant permeating the air.

Nan Yan's body trembled even more violently. It wasn't the cold; the smell reminded him of the club's treatment room—it had a similar smell there, but it was more pungent and mixed with the stench of blood.

He instinctively shrank back, his fingers gripping the hem of his clothes tightly.

Wei Xun noticed his shivering and, assuming it was from the chill of the night, took off his suit jacket and draped it over Nan Yan's shoulders: "Are you that afraid of the cold?"

The coat still carried the warmth of Wei Xun's body and a faint scent of tobacco.

The large fabric wrapped around his thin body, and the warmth and familiar scent enveloped him, strangely lessening the fear in his heart.

At this moment, a middle-aged man in a white coat walked over quickly, with a gentle smile on his face, and extended his hand: "President Wei, it's been a long time."

Wei Xun reached out and shook his hand, his tone flat: "Dr. Zhao."

"You provided legal aid for my mother's case back then, helping my family get justice. I will never forget this kindness." Dr. Zhao's tone was filled with sincere gratitude: "You said a friend needed to have a check-up, and I've been waiting for you."

"No need to stand on ceremony." Wei Xun stepped aside and pointed to Nan Yan behind him: "That's him. Could you please check him out?"

Dr. Zhao nodded, looked at Nan Yan, and said gently, "Young man, come with me."

Nan Yan looked up at Wei Xun in fear; to him, all white coats meant pain and calamity.

However, Wei Xun raised his chin at him and said gently, "Follow Dr. Zhao, it's just a physical examination, it won't hurt."

"Yes, sir," Nan Yan replied obediently.

Although he didn't know why he needed a medical check-up, he obediently followed Dr. Zhao to the examination room.

Wei Xun stood there, watching him wrapped in his coat, following Dr. Zhao step by step like a little animal, his back slender, and Wei Xun felt a strange heaviness in his heart.

In the examination room, Dr. Zhao had Nan Yan lie down on the examination bed: "Let's do an X-ray first."

Nan Yan obediently pursed her lips tightly, staring at the ceiling.

The X-ray machine started up, emitting a slight hum.

A few minutes later, the film was printed out. Dr. Zhao held the film up to the light and looked at it, his brows gradually furrowing.

"The location of the object is not good," Dr. Zhao said thoughtfully, and then took Nan Yan to do more tests.

The sounds of the instruments frightened Nan Yan. He clenched his fists tightly until the examination was over, his palms sweating.

After a series of checks were completed, it was almost 11 o'clock.

Dr. Zhao led Wei Xun and Nan Yan back to the consultation room and said to Nan Yan, "Young man, go wait in the lobby for a while. I need to talk to Mr. Wei about something."

Nan Yan nodded, obediently walked out of the consultation room, and sat down on a bench in the lobby.

He was still wrapped in Wei Xun's coat, sitting upright with his back ramrod straight.

In the examination room, Dr. Zhao closed the door, laid the film on the viewing lamp, and said, "Mr. Wei, please look here."

Wei Xun leaned closer and saw a small shadow on the film, embedded very deep between the third and fourth vertebrae of the spine.

"The chip has grown into the spinal tissue and is embedded very deep." Dr. Zhao's tone was grave. "If we forcibly remove it surgically, the risks are extremely high. It could damage the spinal cord and nerves, leading to paralysis of the lower body, or even... a life-threatening situation."

Wei Xun's pupils suddenly contracted.

He stared at the film in disbelief: "Isn't there any other way?"

"At present, no." Dr. Zhao shook his head. "The chip has a very special design. It is small in size, made of hard material, and is intertwined with nerves, so the margin for error in the surgery is almost zero."

Wei Xun remained silent, his fingers unconsciously clenching until his knuckles turned white.

He never imagined that the club would be so cruel as to implant a chip into his spine.

Dr. Zhao opened the door, glanced outside to make sure no one was there, then locked the door again. He sighed and lowered his voice, "Mr. Wei, if I'm not mistaken, that young man outside is a 'product' of the 'Thorn Rose Club,' isn't he?"

Wei Xun suddenly looked up at him: "You know this club?"

"I only found out by chance." Dr. Zhao's face showed pain and anger. "I had a senior classmate who used to be one of the top surgeons in the country, but he had a mental breakdown and committed suicide six months ago."

He paused, as if recalling that heavy past.

"A few days before my senior committed suicide, we drank together. He had a high income at the time, but he was always gloomy, as if he had something on his mind. As we drank, he finally couldn't hold back and told me the truth."

"It turns out that he joined the medical team of the 'Thorn Rose Club' for money and was doing those illegal things."

"Besides implanting these monitoring chips into living people for easy control, they also perform all sorts of perverse surgeries on healthy children."

Dr. Zhao's voice was full of reluctance: "[This contains negative content about minors; please delete.]"

"【Contains negative content about minors, please delete】"

"【Contains negative content about minors, please delete】"

"【Contains negative content about minors, please delete】"

Dr. Zhao's words made Wei Xun's heart sink even further.

[Contains negative information about minors, deleted].

"【Contains negative content about minors, please delete】"

"In the end, he couldn't take it anymore and chose to commit suicide."

"But his death was quickly suppressed, and the only explanation given was that he suffered a bout of depression. I didn't believe it. How could someone as cheerful as him have depression? But I had no evidence."

Wei Xun's face was terribly gloomy, and the air pressure around him was extremely low.

He never expected the "Thorn Rose Club" to be so cruel.

"You think that's all?" Dr. Zhao shook his head with a wry smile: "The members of this club are not ordinary rich people at all."

"My senior said he has met many bigwigs in the military and political circles of various countries, as well as some people who have connections in both the legitimate and criminal worlds. They are all regulars at the club."

"These people collude with each other, and the club's influence is deeply entrenched; it's simply beyond our reach."

"I don't believe in this nonsense." Wei Xun's voice was icy: "No matter how powerful a force is, it cannot be so lawless and cruel to the living."

"Mr. Wei, please don't be impulsive!" Dr. Zhao quickly pulled him back: "Anyone who goes against this club will end up badly."

"My senior's family wanted to seek justice for him after his death, but the next day, they were all found dead in their home. The police concluded it was a mass suicide. Do you think that's possible? A family of five, old and young, how could they all commit suicide together?"

Dr. Zhao's voice was filled with despair: "I know you are capable and have a strong sense of justice, but this club is too terrifying. We simply cannot fight them. I advise you not to get too involved, otherwise you will not only fail to save the child, but also get yourself involved."

Wei Xun remained silent and did not speak.

He thought of the scars on Nan Yan's body, his timid eyes, and the satisfied smile on his face when he ate a cake. His heart felt like it was blocked by something, making him feel suffocated.

Looking at him, Dr. Zhao sighed and said, "Moreover, that young man outside... probably doesn't have many years left to live."
