Chapter 318 City People's Deep Schemes
Du Mu patted Daniel on the shoulder with a broad smile: "Then it's settled. You'll take me to Kunlun later."
Daniel suddenly snapped out of his daze, a hint of wariness in his eyes: "How do you know Kunlun?"
"She told me."
Du Mu pointed to Madam Gao on the ground: "She also said that the next opening of Kunlun will be in a month, and you will be needed to guide the way then."
Daniel took a step back: "Wait, I didn't agree to that."
Du Mu's eyes turned hostile: "You just said you'd accept any compensation you wanted, what, are you trying to renege on your promise now?"
Daniel panicked: "Judging from your expression just now, I thought I hit someone from your family, that's why I said that!"
Du Mu's expression turned serious, and he spoke with righteous indignation: "It's the same thing. I had to use all my persuasion to convince Madam Gao to abandon her evil ways and become willing to lead us to thwart the Hand's wicked plans."
"You hit her with your gas pedal, ruining the whole plan. If this causes a delay and hundreds of thousands or even millions of people die in New York, who do you think should be held responsible?"
"this...
""
Daniel swallowed hard.
That hat is way too heavy; even if he's trained in Iron Head Kung Fu, he couldn't withstand it.
Du Mu pressed his advantage: "So this is your responsibility, and you must repay it."
Daniel looked distressed. "What exactly are you going to Kunlun for? Kunlun isn't a place outsiders can just walk into."
Du Mu countered with, "Have you heard of Kamar-Taj?"
Daniel's expression changed slightly, and he looked at Du Mu in surprise: "You're from Kamar-Taj?"
As the Iron Fist of this generation, he certainly knew the name of Kamar-Taj.
Du Mu nodded: "Exactly. The Sorcerer Supreme went on a long journey recently, and I'm temporarily in charge of Kamar-Taj. We're all in the Himalayas, so we're practically neighbors. It's only natural for me to pay him a visit, isn't it?"
Although Daniel has a Western face, after living in Kunlun for so many years, he has long been steeped in Eastern customs and traditions.
Du Mu was right; there's really no problem with neighbors visiting each other.
He hesitated for a few seconds before finally agreeing, "Alright, but I need to ask my master about this first."
"no problem."
Du Mu readily agreed.
Even if Daniel doesn't agree, it doesn't matter. At worst, we can go through some trouble and send people to conduct a thorough search of the Himalayas for the entrance to Kunlun.
Once he sneaks in and explores the map, then no one else will have a say in what happens next.
Daniel pointed at Mrs. Gao on the ground: "Let me treat her injuries first, otherwise it will be troublesome if it delays our business."
Du Mu waved his hand, looking completely unconcerned: "It's alright, this old guy is tough and won't die so easily. Besides, she's already told me her location, so it won't matter if she's not around."
Daniel:

Why didn't you say so sooner!
Despite being a grown man, Daniel actually has very little social experience.
When he was nine years old, he and his family had an accident in the snow-capped mountains. His parents died, but he was rescued by a monk from Kunlun and grew up in that secluded and mysterious place.
It wasn't until recently that he left Kunlun and returned to his hometown of New York, America, which he had left many years ago.
Little did he expect that city people were so cunning, and he was tricked several times in a short period of time.
The city is full of tricks, I really want to go back to Kunlun!
As Du Mu said, Madam Gao was not seriously injured. She had the protection of qi in her body, so as long as the Hundred-Ton King did not come in person, being hit by the car would not cause too much harm.
The reason she appeared to be so badly injured was mainly because Du Mu had hit her too hard. Most of the injuries were actually caused by Du Mu and had little to do with Daniel.
Du Mu was fully aware of this, but he still shifted the blame to Daniel, just to let the young man see the dangers of society and gain some experience so that he wouldn't be sold out and still help count the money. His intentions were truly good.
While Du Mu was misleading the young people, Matt had already shared intelligence with Luke Cage and Jessica.
After hearing the whole story, the two decided on the spot to join forces and fight against the Hand.
With Daniel included, there are a total of seven superheroes on the field, a truly impressive lineup. Even if all the supervillains from Hell's Kitchen were tied together, they probably wouldn't be enough to defeat them.
Du Mu had no objection to this; in fact, he wished there would be more.
He likes to bully the few with the many, and he'll fight in groups rather than one-on-one. All talk of martial ethics is nonsense to him.
Winning is called martial virtue; losing is just a case study.
Fortunately, everyone drove here, so there were plenty of seats.
After a quick discussion, the group decided to split into two cars, with Daniel and Frank each driving one.
Daniel hadn't wanted to be a driver in the first place, but after what had just happened, he now gets nervous just looking at the steering wheel—a classic case of post-accident stress response.
The problem is, after looking around, there really aren't any other options.
Matt is blind and has no chance of driving.
Luke Cage is a dark-skinned man. If he drives out, he'll probably be stopped by white traffic cops a dozen times before he's even gone one street. He won't be able to drive more than a few streets a day, which is too much of a waste of time.
Jessica and Erica, the two female drivers, were immediately passed over.
In the end, only Du Mu was left.
However, Du Mu simply said, "Your beat-up car can't even go 300 miles per hour."
Upon hearing this, Daniel immediately volunteered to be the driver.
At least he only had a bit more psychological trauma from driving; if Du Mu had been driving, the body parts might have been bigger.
As for Madam Gao, Du Mu stuffed her into the trunk of the car.
Du Mu sat alone in the back of the car, while Frank and Matt sat in the front.
Luke Cage, Jessica, and Erica all refused to sit in the same car as Du Mu, as if Du Mu were some kind of prehistoric beast.
They had all been severely beaten by Du Mu, especially Luke Cage and Jessica, who still had many embarrassing photos in Du Mu's possession. They just wanted to stay as far away from Du Mu as possible.
Du Mu was completely unaware of this, and even felt a little wronged.
He felt that he was a very easy person to get along with, spoke kindly, was reliable, and did not look scary. So why did these people treat him like he was a plague god?
The altar is located in a remote area on the outskirts of New York City.
When the group drove to the scene, they found the construction site unusually quiet, with not even a guard in sight.
Du Mu opened the trunk, pulled Madam Gao out, forcibly woke her up, and then reinforced the hypnotic effect before letting her walk in front to scout the way.
The group followed Madam Gao through the open space piled with building materials and headed toward the building that was only half-built.
Once inside the building, Madam Gao walked straight to a wall, touched it a few times, and quickly triggered a hidden mechanism.
The wall silently slid open to both sides, revealing an elevator leading underground.
The elevator had a limited capacity, so they went down in two groups, with Du Mu in the first group.
The elevator descended to the bottom floor, and after only a few steps, a stench assaulted our nostrils, as if we had entered a slaughterhouse.
Before them lay a vast underground space, with a stone altar standing in the very center. The altar's surface was covered with densely packed rune grooves, filled with dark red blood that emitted a nauseating stench.
Black-clad ninjas knelt all around the altar, respectfully facing the center of the altar.
The remaining three fingers of the Hand Society could still be seen in the crowd, kneeling on the ground, not daring to lift their heads.
A person sat on the altar, wearing a dark red robe, with his eyes closed and his face covered with strange runes drawn in blood. He exuded a sinister and eerie aura.
[NPC: Worin (Black Sky)]
[Favorability: -50]
[Evaluation: The vessel of the beast, from the shadow dimension of hell, one of the oldest primordial demons in the universe, and the true leader of the Hand]
[Status: Possessed by a Beast]
The primal demons of the Hell dimension.
Du Mu squinted.
Kamar-Taj has dealt with quite a few dimensional invasions, but most of them were small fry, ordinary monsters that slipped in from other dimensions. This is the first time Du Mu has ever seen an ancient relic from the hell dimension descend upon Earth.
Suddenly, the black sky on the altar opened its eyes.
Those eyes had no pupils, only a murky dark red, and their gaze fell on Du Mu.
He slowly stood up: "This aura... you're the human who easily defeated my slave?"
"That's right."
Du Mu knew he was referring to Murakami, nodded, and asked in return, "So you're the Black Beast... ugh, the Beast, right?"
"You do have some good taste."
Hei Kong snorted coldly, shifting his gaze from Du Mu to Erica standing behind him. His tone darkened. "I had more suitable vessels to choose from, but you interfered and ruined my plans, forcing me to make do with this body for my arrival. What is your punishment?"
"I don't know what crime I committed, but you know you broke the law."
Du Mu's expression was serious: "You have violated the anti-smuggling law of the real dimension. Any being from a non-real dimension is not allowed to enter the Earth's real plane in any form without prior registration. Your case constitutes a serious case of illegal entry. It's not too late to leave now."
Hei Kong narrowed his blood-red eyes and let out a low, sneer: "A bunch of weak humans dare to presume to set rules for beings like us? They think too highly of themselves."
Du Mu wasn't annoyed at all, and said cheerfully, "I didn't set these rules; they were set by the Supreme Master. If you have any objections, you can go and tell her yourself."
Hei Kong remained silent for two or three seconds before coldly saying, "Your strength is not bad; you were able to defeat a slave to whom I bestowed power."
"Your attempt to change the subject was too abrupt."
Du Mu made a sarcastic remark, his expression suddenly turning strange as he tentatively asked, "You're reacting so strongly, could it be that you were beaten up by the Supreme Mage before?"
"Ridiculous! How could that be! That's not true!"
Hei Kong immediately denied it three times, but the hint of guilt in his voice was impossible to hide.
There are countless dimensional demons spying on Earth, and the Beast is one of them.
Back then, in my youthful ignorance, I once launched a massive invasion of the real world, attempting to claim Earth as my own territory, only to run into a kind-looking bald man.
I won't go into the details, but in the end, the Beast tucked its tail between its legs and retreated to its own territory. It only dared to do what the big shots from other dimensions did: secretly cultivate its influence on Earth, which is now the Hand.
Upon seeing this, Du Mu immediately realized that this guy must have been traumatized by the Ancient One.
He immediately said, "Consider yourself lucky. The Supreme Master just went out for dinner. You can still leave now. If the Supreme Master comes to deal with it personally, you'll be in trouble."
"You think you can scare me off by invoking the name of the Sorcerer Supreme?"
Hei Kong scoffed, "I already investigated. That bald woman disappeared long ago. She might have died at the hands of a demon god from another dimension. If I hadn't confirmed that she wasn't there, how would I have dared to show up at this time?"
As he spoke, he inadvertently revealed his true feelings.
But soon, Hei Kong suddenly realized what was happening and flew into a rage: "You cunning human, how dare you try to trick me!"
Du Mu:
You were the one who brought it up, so I'm not taking the blame for this.
"Kill them!"
Hei Kong raised his hand and gave a stern order.
The ninjas around the altar stood up in unison, and the three fingers of the Hand Society drew their weapons and surged towards the crowd.
Da da da da da da—!
Frank pulled the trigger first.
The flames spitting from the gun barrels were particularly dazzling in the dimly lit underground space, and in the blink of an eye, they swept down a group of ninjas.
Other superheroes also joined the fray, automatically matched with opponents, and engaged in a chaotic battle.
Daniel stood out, charging into the enemy ranks. His fists blazed with dazzling golden light, transforming into a barrage of fist shadows that blasted the ninjas in front of him away one by one.
The game features a mix of basic attacks and normal attacks, creating a unique aesthetic through numerical mechanics.
Ignoring the surrounding monsters, Du Mu pulled out two Golden Desert Eagles and aimed them at the black sky above the altar.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang—!
Several bullets, shimmering with a pure white light, were fired from the barrel and shot straight into the dark sky.
Hei Kong knew this was a human weapon and planned to casually deflect the bullets while taking the opportunity to mock the stupidity of these low-level creatures.
However, the moment the first bullet struck his palm, Hei Kong's face, covered in blood-red lines, suddenly changed color.
A burst of scorching, holy energy erupted from the bullet. This energy seemed to be the natural enemy of him; his enhanced body was directly burned by this energy, sizzling and emitting pungent white smoke.
"ah!!"
Hei Kong let out a mournful howl, and without bothering to show off, quickly dodged away from the spot.
But the remaining bullets veered off course in the air and continued their trajectory toward his location.
Seeing this, Hei Kong waved his arm, and several fireballs emitting the smell of sulfur were blasted out, melting all the incoming bullets.
At the same time, his injuries healed rapidly, and he returned to normal in the blink of an eye.
Hei Kong stared intently at Du Mu: "This is the aura of magic. Are you a mage?"
"You noticed that? That's right, I am a mage."
Du Mu gripped the Golden Desert Eagle with both hands and nodded firmly.
