Chapter 194 What I wager with you isn't about what you want, but what I have!

New Orleans, America, Bourbon Street.

Following clues John had gathered through intermediaries, the three entered a pink-lit entertainment venue that clearly wasn't exactly respectable.

Soon, they found their target, Patty King Remy, at a Texas Hold'em poker table.

Remy was lounging back in his chair, displaying impressive card skills that drew occasional low gasps from the people around the table and the onlookers.

A faint smile played on his lips; he clearly enjoyed being the center of attention.

Judging from the pile of chips in front of him, this guy must have won a lot tonight. A blond, wavy-haired woman next to him kept praising him and providing him with emotional support. Remy chuckled and tossed a chip he had just won into the blond, wavy-haired woman's muscular chest.

"Show-off!" *3

Du Mu and the other two spat inwardly, feeling a mixture of envy... no, disdain.

Logan volunteered: "I'll go talk to him."

Du Mu patted Logan's shoulder: "Let me do it. You're the kind of person who kills conversations."

Logan's lips twitched.

It's better for me to kill the conversation than for you to beat someone to death.

But he couldn't persuade Du Mu otherwise, so he and John went to block the back door in case the negotiations broke down and a fight broke out, and the target could slip away through the back door.

Du Mu walked straight to the card table and sat down in the empty seat opposite Remy.

Hearing the noise, Remy struggled to shift his gaze from the blond, wavy-haired man's chest muscles to Du Mu.

He smiled slightly: "Looks like we have a new friend joining us tonight. The rule here is that the big blind is 100 and the small blind is 50."

"So little?"

Du Mu's tone was filled with undisguised disdain.

Remy paused, his smile unchanged, but a hint of scrutiny appeared in his eyes: "So, how much do you think is appropriate?"

"Of course, it has to be at least tens of thousands, with no upper limit. Otherwise, how could it be worthy of my status?"

Du Mu had the air of a nouveau riche who spent money like water.

Remy narrowed his eyes slightly, secretly delighted; this was definitely a rare big fish.

He remained outwardly calm: "You're quite ambitious. Have you brought enough capital? We don't do credit here."

"Is this enough?"

Du Mu pulled out more than a dozen gold bars from his backside and placed them on the table, making everyone around him stare in disbelief.

No, where did you put all these gold bars?

That's enough.

Remy's gaze also lingered on the dozen or so gold bars, and his breathing became rapid.

Although he had been involved in countless betting games, most of them were small-scale, and betting games of this scale were rare.

However, he has absolute confidence in his card skills and believes he will not lose to anyone.

Because the stakes were so high, only Du Mu and Remy could bet against each other at the table, while the other gamblers were happy to watch this high-stakes game from the sidelines.

This isn't a legitimate casino, so there aren't many rules to speak of.

Soon, the card table was emptied, leaving only Du Mu and Remy sitting opposite each other, each with a large amount of chips piled up in front of them.

The dealer cuts and shuffles the cards, then slides the two bottom cards to the two players respectively.

Remy lifted the corner of his cards and glanced at his hole cards. To his surprise, he had two Aces, a dream start in Texas Hold'em.

His heart skipped a beat, but he pretended to be nonchalant and casually pushed out two chips: "Double the blinds."

"I agree."

Du Mu didn't even look at the cards in front of him, and threw out four chips as if they were just a few one-yuan coins.

Remy exclaimed in surprise, "Aren't you going to check your own hand?"

Du Mu waved his hand dismissively: "I don't lack that kind of money; it's all about the thrill!"

Remy:

'

'

Damn, he's even better at showing off than me!

Next, the dealer turns over the three community cards in the center of the table: the Ace of Spades, the 8 of Spades, and the Queen of Diamonds.

Seeing the Ace of Spades, Remy felt reassured and pushed out five more chips: "Raise, fifty thousand."

"I agree."

Du Mu immediately followed suit, without even glancing at his two face-down cards.

Seeing this, Remy's last bit of doubt completely vanished.

He did have some initial suspicions; the other party's willingness to gamble so heavily suggested they might be a hidden gambling master.

But now it seems he was just a complete show-off!

What expert bets without even looking at their hole cards? Do they think they have too much money?

Then, the dealer turned over the fourth community card, a King of Hearts.

Seeing that Du Mu still hadn't looked at his cards, Remy glanced at his own cards and immediately decided to add fuel to the fire.

"One hundred thousand!"

"I agree."

Du Mu tossed out ten chips, even yawning idly, and casually tossed out a small chip for the waiter to buy a cappuccino to perk him up, completely disregarding the betting game.

Remy wasn't angry; the more Du Mu acted this way, the more at ease he felt.

He's already starting to think about where he should go to have some fun after winning this pile of gold bars, and maybe even rescue those poor young ladies.

Next, the dealer revealed the last community card, which was an 8 of diamonds.

Three Aces with a pair, that's it!

Remy desperately suppressed the urge to smile, his face showing hesitation, his brows furrowed, and his fingers hovering over the stack of chips, as if he were struggling to make a decision.

He was putting on a full-blown performance, only wanting to extract more leverage from Du Mu.

"Two hundred thousand!"

Remy didn't go all in, worried that he would scare Du Mu into not following, but instead chose to raise the stakes.

"I agree."

However, Du Mu did not hesitate at all and chose to call. He pointed to the remaining chips in front of Remy and said happily, "In addition, I will beat you again and bet all the chips in front of you."

The surrounding gamblers immediately became agitated.

Going all in on the first round, is that exciting?!

Remy stared intently at Du Mu's face, trying to glean something from his expression, but all he saw was the smug look of a nouveau riche.

He hesitated for a moment, then looked down to check his cards again, and his confidence instantly soared.

With my gourd in hand, can you defeat me in an instant?

If you can beat me in a second, I'll eat this whole card table!

"Okay! I'll go with it!"

Remy made a snap decision, pushed all the chips in front of him forward, and turned over his hole cards.

With a victor's smile, he said, "Excuse me, but I am the gourd, and the biggest gourd at that."

Du Mu remained calm and, under everyone's watchful eyes, slowly revealed the cards in front of him.

It's a pair of 8s, much smaller than Remy's pair of Aces.

The problem is that there are already two 8s on the open cards, which means that Du Mu's hand consists of four of a kind!

It completely crushed Remy's gourd!

"It's over!"

Remy's smile froze instantly, his face fell, and his expression was even worse than if he had swallowed an egg.

As Du Mu gathered the chips in front of him, he said with a grin, "Looks like today is my lucky day. I have so much money at home that it would be difficult to give some away, but I still couldn't manage to."

Remy:

'

'

He felt as if he had been stabbed several times in the chest, his heart aching and he couldn't utter a single word.

I thought I'd catch a big fish today, so I frantically baited the area, but instead of catching any fish, I ended up feeding all the fish in the river.

Du Mu arranged the pile of chips that had formed a small mountain, looked up and asked, "Are you still going to play? If not, I'm going home for dinner."

,,"Play!"

Remy uttered a single word through clenched teeth.

Having invested a significant portion of his fortune, how could he possibly give up now?

He absolutely refused to believe that the guy on the other side could keep winning with this kind of weird luck!

After half an hour.

Looking at Remy across from him, who looked utterly dejected, Du Mu said to the blond man with wavy hair who was massaging his shoulders, "Tiga, go get Remy a cappuccino too. He doesn't look too well and needs a pick-me-up."

"Mr. Du Mu, my name is not Tiga," the blond, wavy-haired man corrected.

Du Mu glanced at the blond, wavy-haired man's chest muscles and then nodded firmly: "The data doesn't lie, you are Ultraman Tiga, hurry up and pour me a cappuccino."

The blonde woman had no choice but to obey.

There was nothing she could do; Du Mu had filled the four-dimensional pocket between her pectoral muscles with chips. Now she only regretted that she was only a D+, otherwise she could have filled in even more chips.

Remi watched helplessly as his Tiga served his opponent in the blink of an eye, making his already broken heart even more painful.

That half hour was a nightmare for him.

He gambled with Du Mu for more than a dozen rounds, and without exception, he lost to Du Mu every single time!

No matter how big the bet, Du Mu would call without hesitation, and he would never look at his hole cards until the very last moment.

What's even more outrageous is that Du Mu always has a better hand than him. All sorts of high-ranking hands that are rarely seen in ordinary card games seem to come out of Du Mu's hands like they're free, and he even got a royal flush!

Faced with this style of play, Remy's years of hard-earned gambling skills were completely useless, like throwing punches at thin air, losing every round with frustration and helplessness.

And so, Remy lost more than a dozen games in a row, not only losing all the wealth he had accumulated over the years, but even the blond, wavy-haired guy went to the other side to provide emotional value.

He stared intently at Du Mu, strongly suspecting that the other was cheating!

The problem is that Du Mu hardly touched the cards from beginning to end. Sometimes, even the cards were dealt by the blond-haired big-waisted guy, so he had no chance to cheat.

Du Mu sipped his cappuccino and smiled at Remy, "Are you still playing?"

"Play!"

Remy answered without hesitation.

He always believed that Du Mu relied purely on luck, and that Du Mu's luck would eventually run out, at which point it would be his chance to turn the tables!

In short, he was just addicted to gambling!

Du Mu glanced at Remy's empty table and chuckled, "But it seems we're out of chips."

Remy gritted his teeth and said, "I have an airplane I can bet you on."

Du Mu chuckled: "What use would I have for your plane?"

Remy slammed his hand on the table and said fiercely, "What I wager with you isn't about what you want, but what I have!"

Du Mu: "6"

'

"Sigh, why bother?"

Du Mu looked at Remy, who was only wearing a pair of underwear, and shook his head.

Just now, Remy had lost all his valuables, even his clothes were used as collateral for the bet.

If Du Mu hadn't been so disgusted, Remy probably wouldn't have been able to keep his underwear.

Even so, Remy still owed Du Mu a huge gambling debt, the kind where he lost nine times out and thirteen times back.

Remy didn't react to Du Mu's words at all. He just slumped in the chair with a blank expression, staring at the ceiling with empty eyes. He looked like he had already decided which rooftop to go to and let loose.

Seeing this, Du Mu comforted him, saying, "Don't be so discouraged. Money can be earned back. There's no need to be so desperate over such a small matter. At least pay back the gambling debts you owe me before you die."

Remy:

'

After hearing this, he felt even more like dying.

"However, if you do me a favor, I can forgive your gambling debts."

Du Mu revealed a malicious smile.

Remy covered his temples, his eyes wary: "What do you want me to do? Let me make it clear first, I perform, I don't sell my body!"

"There are too many people here, let's go to the side and talk."

Du Mu stood up, signaling Remy to follow, and before leaving, he casually stole the chip O from the blond, wavy-haired man's chest.

He just remembered that the money he won using the "God of Gamblers' Blessing" skill could not be used for personal consumption, but could only be used for charity, otherwise he would be cursed.

Of course, rescuing a young lady in tattered clothes is out of the question!

Remy gritted his teeth and had no choice but to get up and follow Du Mu to a relatively quiet corner of the casino.

"What exactly do you want me to do?"

Du Mu got straight to the point: "I'm looking for an island."

Remy's expression suddenly froze, his eyes darting around: "What island? I don't understand what you're talking about."

"The island where Stryker and Victor are."

Du Mu said bluntly, "You know what I mean, you escaped from that island, right?"

Upon hearing this, Remy knew he couldn't hide it any longer and said in a deep voice, "No wonder you took the initiative to come to me; so this is your real purpose. Who exactly are you?"

"Like you, we are mutants."

"Oh?"

Remy's eyes lit up: "So you also have a special ability? Is your ability luck?"

If Du Mu won at the gambling table by using his mutant ability, then it proves that it wasn't that his gambling skills were lacking, but rather that Du Mu had activated the Forgotten Gate.

Du Mu seemed to see through his thoughts and waved his hand: "Don't even think about it. My ability has nothing to do with gambling skills. You lost to me simply because you're bad at it."

Remy:

'

That's heartbreaking!

After a moment of silence, Remy's expression gradually turned serious: "Since you're also a mutant, why did you actively seek out places like that?"

Du Mu countered with, "What's wrong with that place?"

Remy seemed to have been reminded of some extremely unpleasant memory, and a hint of fear flashed across his face.

He slowly began to speak: "That island was a large laboratory. Those humans used mutants to conduct all sorts of live experiments. I personally witnessed many mutants die in their experiments."

"I endured two and a half years in that hellish place, a living hell. Luckily, Lady Luck smiled upon me and allowed me to escape. So, why did you choose to go to a place like that?"

Du Mu said, "To be honest, I am actually the leader of the Brotherhood. Our organization's mission is to fight for a better tomorrow for mutants."

"Brotherhood?"

Remy paused, then said, "I think I've heard of this organization before. Isn't the leader a mutant called Magneto?"

Du Mu's expression remained unchanged: "You're mistaken. Their organization is called the Sorority."

Remy:
