Chapter 27 Trap
Chapter 27 Trap
That night, Navelette looked at the sample newspaper submitted by the Steambird newspaper, and Chloe sat in his lap, peeking out to look at it with him.
Charlotte truly lived up to her reputation as the youngest and most promising reporter at Steambird Newspaper. Her writing was completely realistic, even capturing Chloe's deliberately arrogant and irritating tone in just a few words.
"Truly lifelike." Chloe nodded in satisfaction.
She doesn't mind that her image has been portrayed as arrogant and domineering because of this report. After all, she doesn't like interacting with others anyway. Those close to her naturally know what kind of person she is, and she doesn't care about others.
Navette wasn't one to care about such things, and nodded in agreement: "Reporter Charlotte is indeed quite skilled in this area, it's just that her enthusiasm for interviewing me sometimes gives me a headache. This time she should get her wish."
"But Ms. Chloe, do you think this plan can succeed?"
"Of course!" Chloe was brimming with confidence in her ingenious plan.
Doesn't Pure White Lily of the Valley think she's unworthy of Navelette? Does she think that getting close to him would be a stain on his reputation?
Now that she's openly showing affection with Villette throughout Fontainebleau, it's like stepping on her sore spot. She doesn't believe that even the guy who got so angry about the first little contact that he wrote her a threatening letter can tolerate this!
Of course, before actually implementing this plan, Chloe consulted with Navelette to confirm that he didn't mind making their relationship public before she chose to do so.
"The fact that she was able to strike me so quickly when the security forces were retreating suggests she's been paying close attention to me," she continued. "So, to get her out of the shadows, we need to create an opportunity for her to act."
"Moreover, this opportunity cannot be too far in the future. Only a rare and unexpected opportunity can prevent her from having much time to make arrangements and choose to take the risk and personally attack me."
Chloe mentioned this to Navelette last night, but Navelette disagreed.
The same applies now, Violet said with a frown and a look of disapproval: "Ms. Chloe, there are many ways to solve problems; you don't necessarily have to put yourself in danger."
Chloe knew he was worried that if he left as planned, he wouldn't be able to take care of her if danger occurred, but there was no other way.
Rather than letting yourself and your parents live in constant fear, it's better to make a ruthless move.
Looking back now, it's possible that her family actually inherited the business acumen passed down from the Durand family ancestors, but she's left it all to her, which is why she's now making such a risky, all-or-nothing move, like an investment.
But risk is precisely what brings reward, and the potential return is enough to make Chloe take the plunge.
She snuggled against Naviset behind her, nestled against his chest, and whispered, "Is there really no room for negotiation, Lord Naviset?"
Villette's already upright posture became even more stiff, but his expression remained completely unchanged, still extremely serious. If Chloe hadn't been sitting right next to him, she wouldn't have noticed at all.
He refused coldly, "There's absolutely no room for negotiation."
Having spent so much time together, Chloe knew exactly what he liked best, so she got up and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek.
"Is this not acceptable, Lady Vilette?"
"No--"
Before Villette could finish speaking, he was kissed several more times on the face. The culprit, his face covered in saliva, looked at him with pitiful eyes and asked, "Really not okay?"
Violet's lips were almost pressed into a straight line, but her eyes were clearly no longer as firm as they had been at the beginning; they looked unreal.
Chloe, of course, noticed, and immediately pressed her advantage with several more kisses. Finally, she cupped his face in her hands, smiling brightly, her sweet, almost honey-like voice saying, "Lady Villette—"
Ultimately, under Chloe's shameless offensive, tonight's tug-of-war ended with someone suffering a complete defeat.

The next day, Chloe dragged Navelette out to show off their affection again, even more so than the day before. She also made sure to mention that Navelette was willing to give up a day's work to be with her, acting like a femme fatale who could bring ruin to a country.
It could be said that whatever Pure White Lily of the Valley said, she would do the exact opposite, determined to infuriate her.
She led Navelette around the busiest part of Fontainebleau three times, giving Pure White Lily of the Valley no chance to pretend she didn't see her.
When she felt it was about time, she said in a voice loud enough for almost everyone around her to hear, "Lady Vilette, I'm a little thirsty."
Navelette picked up the conversation quite naturally: "I'm sorry, Ms. Chloe, there don't seem to be any drink shops around here. The nearest one is Luzer Café in Vasari Corridor."
But even though it's the closest, it's actually a seven or eight-minute walk.
Of course, Violet didn't say what came next, otherwise it would have seemed too deliberate. It would have been better to leave it to Pure White Lily of the Valley to figure out for herself.
He was playing the role of a considerate boyfriend, so he quickly offered, "Wait here for a bit, and you'll soon have your favorite milk coffee."
The implication was that he was prepared to personally buy the coffee for her.
Chloe, while marveling at how convincingly the seemingly honest Vilette could act, feigned hesitation: "But I'm worried about that lily of the valley thing..."
She stopped halfway through her sentence, feigning fear and leaving the person in the shadows plenty of room for imagination.
Navelette patted her hand reassuringly, "It's alright, there are so many people here, she wouldn't dare show herself."
"Hmm..." Chloe nodded, looking aggrieved, and quickly found the most conspicuous spot nearby to sit down.
Navilette left quickly.
The person hidden in the shadows watched all of this with cold eyes, and let out a sneer when they looked at Chloe.
That's so naive. Do you really think that staying in a crowded place will make you hesitant and afraid to leave?
Despite his thoughts, he hesitated for a long time before finally taking out the dagger hidden in his sleeve.
She silently counted the numbers in her mind, her eyes fixed on the direction where Villette had left.
The man never appeared, as if he had truly left.
She finally made up her mind to take action when she counted to four hundred and twenty.
At this time, Villette should have just arrived at Luze Cafe, the furthest point from here. If something unexpected happens at this moment, he definitely won't be able to get here in time!
Now is the best opportunity, she thought, unaware that she had already fallen into their trap.
