Chapter 49 The World of Ice and Snow
Chapter 49 The World of Ice and Snow
"Look! The gas station... seems to be working!" Jiao Jiao exclaimed excitedly over the walkie-talkie.
As everyone looked up, they saw that the gas station, which had been covered by a thick layer of wax, was now rapidly solidifying, cracking, and peeling off the wax on its surface as the Wax Behemoth died, revealing the relatively intact gas pumps underneath.
"That's great!" Only then did Fu Xiaojian finally show a relieved smile.
"Everyone, hurry up and refuel!" The vehicles still had difficulty moving on the wax, and slipping was inevitable, but it didn't take much effort for everyone to push the vehicles over.
As soon as the fuel nozzle was inserted into the filler neck, a strong smell of gasoline wafted over.
"It's oily!" Jiao Jiao exclaimed in surprise.
I don't know why this refueling machine is still working now.
"Great! Great!" The crowd's voices were filled with barely suppressed excitement.
This is truly a miraculous escape from a desperate situation!
The convoy erupted in cheers and began to refuel the vehicles in an orderly fashion, filling the precious gasoline into every container they could find—buckets, oil drums, and even water bottles.
Unfortunately, we couldn't go inside the gas station; the small reception area was already filled with wax.
Xu Si filled up his Land Rover's fuel tank and all the spare containers. Looking at the fuel level on the dashboard, he felt much more at ease.
With oil in hand, I felt more at ease.
His gaze swept across the area around the gas station, where the solidified, grayish-white wax blocks reflected an eerie light under the blood-red sun.
Although this trip was fraught with danger, the gains were also enormous.
With 2500 purification points, plus the 2100 points left from shooting fish, you now have a total of 4600 purification points!
More importantly, having obtained the [Heart of Molten Wax Behemoth], upgrading vehicles can now be put on the agenda.
"Brother Dao, should we still go into the city?" Xiao Luo came over, his face still showing lingering fear, but his eyes had regained their usual shrewdness.
Xu Si looked at Xiao Luo, then glanced at the town's depths half-hidden by solidified wax, and shook his head: "This place is too eerie. We almost lost everything just now. There might be something even more troublesome inside. We've already filled up the tank; let's call it a day and not go any further!"
"That's what I meant too. I just took a look, and although the dried fish is covered in oil and wax, it's not dirty. It's still edible and should last for a while!" Fu Xiaojian also came over at some point.
Xu Si discovered that this guy's fuel tank was bigger than his own, and the fuel nozzle still hadn't been pulled out.
"Xu Si is right, we can't stay here for long." His expression was solemn.
"Although the molten wax behemoth has been dealt with, no one can guarantee that there are no other dangers in the city. Moreover, the city is full of wax, making it impossible for vehicles to drive in and difficult to collect supplies. We can no longer take risks."
He looked around; the survivors' faces were all numb—numb to the eeriness, numb to death, even numb to time.
"Everyone hurry up, the convoy will depart in ten minutes and leave this place!" Fu Xiaojian's voice came through the loudspeaker.
Upon hearing this, everyone moved even faster.
"Attention everyone, the convoy is moving out!" Shortly after, the convoy began to slowly depart.
However, the car wasn't driven; instead, it was pushed by the crowd and slid slowly along the asphalt road, creating a somewhat comical scene.
Only Xiao Luo and Jiao Jiao had a lot of fun.
After pushing for several hundred meters, the warrior was the first to run over the broken wax blocks and head towards the road leaving the town.
Before leaving, each person took a large lump of oil and wax, so they had at least made some gains.
Buses and pickup trucks followed closely behind.
Xu Si drove his Land Rover "Narrowly Victorious" at the back of the convoy.
The convoy quickly followed the road up to the embankment.
"I wonder which river this is?" Xu Si remarked, looking out the window.
There are many rivers in the south, and a river of this size must have a name, but no one can answer that.
After driving for more than ten minutes, the group finally got off the embankment.
But the sight before them left them speechless.
A world covered in silver suddenly appeared before everyone.
The distant mountains were covered in snow, and the nearby trees were covered with icicles, which reflected an eerie light under the blood-red sunlight.
The temperature in the air plummeted, instantly transforming the previous sweltering heat into a bone-chilling cold, and exhaled breath condensed into white mist in front of one's eyes.
"What... what's going on?" Jiao Jiao pressed her face against the car window, staring out in disbelief.
"It was so hot just now, how come it's suddenly snowing?"
The convoy slowly came to a stop, and everyone was shocked by the bizarre sight.
On one side, the sun blazes down, and on the other, a world of ice and snow; two completely different climate zones are seamlessly joined together.
The two sides of the river seem like two different worlds.
Xu Si pushed open the car door, and a blast of cold air hit him, making him shiver involuntarily.
He reached out and caught a falling snowflake, which melted quickly in his palm, leaving a slightly cool sensation.
"This is not normal." Fu Xiaojian walked to his side, his brows furrowed.
Tashan jumped off the bus, his rocky feet crunching on the snow: "I think this place is even weirder than that wax we just saw."
"Don't you think this is normal? It should be around the end of December now, and this is what it looks like in the north." Xu Si said, somewhat nostalgic for the snow in Los Angeles.
"But we're in the south! We're in Shenzhen!" The little girl was already shivering, rummaging through the clothes in the car. It was the first time she had ever seen snow in her life, and her excitement lasted less than a minute before being defeated by the cold.
Su Su's cool gaze swept across the snowfield, her fists clenching unconsciously.
Her short-sleeved shirt looked even thinner in the cold wind, but her upright posture did not tremble at all.
Xiao Luo wrapped his coat tighter, his teeth chattering: "Brother Dao, I'm so cold... This place is so strange!"
Xu Sixing's eyes narrowed slightly as he gazed into the depths of the snowfield.
He couldn't see anything unusual in his field of vision; perhaps the world they lived in was full of anomalies.
"Put your clothes on first!" Fu Xiaojian was also shivering from the cold.
Xu Si had no other clothes, only a windbreaker and two sets of freshly washed delivery uniforms.
At that moment, all the clothes were put on at once, and the strong fishy smell hit my head.
It doesn't make sense that even a body with an extraordinary sequence can't withstand the cold.
The blood-red sun's rays shone on the snow, reflecting an eerie and dazzling red light, making this icy and snowy world seem exceptionally unreal.
"Everyone put on whatever clothes you can!" Fu Xiaojian gave the order through the loudspeaker, his voice trembling slightly in the cold wind.
"Check the vehicle's antifreeze and tires; vehicles are prone to problems at this temperature."
The convoy immediately sprang into action.
Clothes that were once commonplace are now in short supply.
There were too many people on the bus, and there weren't enough clothes for everyone.
The survivors rummaged through everything they could find to keep warm, with many wearing multiple pairs of pants together and several coats on, making them look bulky and unhealthy.
Yao Yao was wrapped in a thick blanket by Wang Hu, layer upon layer, but he himself had no extra clothes, and his lips were already turning purple from the cold.
