Chapter 43 Destroy the Giant Spider? Let Hagrid take you!
The next day, Kane woke up late, while Harry and Ron were still fast asleep in bed.
After sitting up, he first sorted out what had happened yesterday...emmm, he ate a mandrake during the day, slept until evening, then went to the Forbidden Forest to get close to the dark wizard, ran away, was tricked by Malfoy and his gang, and then had ten points deducted by Professor McGonagall.
Kane moved to the small sofa in his dorm room, feeling that everything he had experienced yesterday was still too surreal. After thinking it over, he finally decided not to think about it anymore and instead went to Dumbledore's place to see if the dark wizard who had been lurking in the Forbidden Forest had been captured by Dumbledore.
As soon as he left his dormitory and entered the lounge, he sensed a very strange atmosphere.
Almost the entire Gryffindor lounge, big and small, exuded a faint awkwardness, and the usual laughter and chatter were nowhere to be seen.
The other students in the common room saw Kane, the person involved, appear. They all wanted to strike up a conversation, wanting to see what expression he would have when he found out that Hermione had betrayed them. However, before they could even speak, Kane made the first move.
He saw Neville playing wizard chess in the corner, strode over, and patted him on the shoulder: "What's wrong? I remember we only lost thirty points yesterday, Gryffindor shouldn't be able to handle that, right?"
"It's not about you guys losing points, it's about the mole." Neville moved a chess piece and said to Kane, "Because you lost points yesterday, and Hermione returned to the tower around the same time as you, everyone now suspects that Hermione betrayed you, but that's impossible. Anyway, I believe Hermione."
"Okay, fine." Kane rolled his eyes, and was about to stand on the coffee table and shout that he had something to announce, but then suddenly felt that that would be too conspicuous, so he decided to find a more dignified way.
"Yesterday, Harry, Ron, and I went to the trophy room, didn't we?" Kane began, drawing the attention of most of the students. "Then when we got there, we found that Malfoy and the others weren't there, but Felch was waiting for us somewhere."
"So Malfoy and his gang were already wiped out? We didn't lose out," Finigan said, raising an eyebrow as he played chess with Neville.
"No, we were tricked by Malfoy, and then Malfoy betrayed our whereabouts to Felge. Of course, in retrospect, he also betrayed us to Professor McGonagall, so this has nothing to do with Hermione."
"Well, the Malfoy family is an old and established family, but I didn't expect Draco Malfoy to be so shameless. He even dared to disregard the established rules of wizard duels." The two senior students sitting next to them, listening to the gossip, frowned.
While the Malfoys may be known for their unseemly behavior, this level of unseemly behavior is too abstract; it's more like something that would make Draco's father pull out the Seven Wolves belt.
"By the way, where's Hermione? You all misunderstood her. Did she secretly drop her little pearl?" Kane asked next. After all, he had gone to so much trouble to explain so that innocent Hermione wouldn't take the blame. Now that things were clear, he naturally wanted to ask about her current situation.
"I don't think it's very likely that Hermione would lose her little pearl," Finnigan shuddered. "We scolded Hermione, and then she knocked out Thomas Dean's front tooth with a book and used magic to send Sophie Roba to the infirmary. Now you're telling me Hermione would secretly lose her little pearl?"
Don't make your Hermione laugh.
"So? Where is she now?" Kane then asked.
"I don't know." Neville shook his head. "I went to the auditorium, the study rooms, and the library, but I couldn't find a trace of it."
"They definitely don't want to see you because you misunderstood them. Just apologize to them at dinner. I'll stop here for now, I have to go out for a bit." After figuring out the situation, Kane was about to leave the lounge to see how things were going with Dumbledore.
Just thinking about how he solved a case of stealing a mandrake in less than half an hour, and how he could be monitored by the Ministry of Magic every minute by using shadow magic in the Muggle world, it would be too abstract for Dumbledore to be unable to catch a small dark wizard in the Forbidden Forest.
"emmmm"
"So what do you mean you didn't make any preparations in the Forbidden Forest? Now, who knows how many dark creatures and black wizards have turned the Forbidden Forest into their lair? Couldn't you... put a little more effort into your scare tactics?"
Kane sat on the sofa in Dumbledore's office, staring at him with his crescent-shaped eyes and speaking in a low voice.
"After all, any normal headmaster would try to exaggerate how terrible the Forbidden Forest is if he knew that a young wizard had taken two of his classmates to explore it late at night, in order to dissuade the young wizard from the worst possible perspective. Alternatively, you could seek help from Hagrid. With him around, your trip to the Forbidden Forest will be much safer," Dumbledore explained.
"I was asking which dark wizard it was, not whether a minor wizard was dangerous to trespass into the Forbidden Forest." Kane scratched his head. He felt that Dumbledore was changing the subject, but he had no proof.
"Hmm." Dumbledore glanced at Kane and decided to tell the truth. Although it was not good for the young wizard to know this, if he didn't tell the truth, Kane might really continue to venture into the Forbidden Forest and get himself killed sooner or later.
"No, that dark wizard is still active, and will remain so for a long time."
"Ah, okay, let me guess, just for fun?" Kane asked, popping a piece of chocolate into his mouth.
"Although I really want to refute what you're saying about this behavior, if you ignore my original intentions and only look at what I'm doing, you could say that I am indeed preparing for a large-scale stage play."
Kane leaned back on the sofa, grunted twice, and summoned Maxwell.
"Look at this, Old Mike, here's a principal who deliberately lets dangerous people into the school just to organize a stage play. Isn't that incredibly tasteless?"
Maxwell gave an awkward smile and nodded involuntarily: "Indeed."
Dumbledore was unaware that Kane was secretly dissing him with Maxwell, and continued to try to persuade Kane to genuinely abandon the idea of going to the Forbidden Forest.
As for forcibly forbidding him from going to the Forbidden Forest, to be honest, I never even considered it. These young wizards are all so stubborn these days, especially the talented ones. They wish they could kill Voldemort as their Christmas homework in their first year, so I can only coax them to do it.
The two eventually locked in a stalemate in the office for two or three more rounds, ending with Dumbledore losing the argument and being unable to prevail over Kane.
Dumbledore pinched the bridge of his nose with a hint of exasperation: "Going is fine. You can choose to have Hagrid take you to the Forbidden Forest. I feel at ease with him there."
Kane nodded. Hagrid, as the Keeper of the Forbidden Forest, was familiar with its terrain, making him the perfect person to lead him to the giant spiders. So, humming a tune, he grabbed two handfuls of chocolate from Dumbledore's desk and left Dumbledore's office.
Only then did Dumbledore realize that he had forgotten something.
I forgot to ask Kane what he wanted from the Forbidden Forest... but that's not important. Whatever the problem, Hagrid can handle it well within the Forbidden Forest. As long as it's not an attack on the great treasures Hagrid left there, there shouldn't be any trouble...
Right.
