Wach laughed so hard that he choked on his cigarette.
But he didn't care at all. He stubbed out his cigarette, waved, turned and left, leaving Cocolia with an infuriating back view.
Pfft!
Cocolia collapsed to the ground, panting heavily. She stared in the direction Vah had gone, her eyes filled with venom.
Just now, I didn't even have the intention to resist. Why? Why is that?
A sense of emptiness lingers within me...
What New World, what Bronya, what preservation and destruction... none of it matters.
Cocolia couldn't understand why she felt this way.
……
Meanwhile, at the orphanage in Rivet Town
"I sense the aura of [nothingness]..."
Spas muttered to himself. Before him was a wall, dilapidated and covered with a child's graffiti.
The colors of the painting have faded with time, but one can still vaguely see its immature brushstrokes.
Rockets, stars, aliens… the children’s imaginations leap off the walls. However, Spa detects an eerie atmosphere within them.
He felt that graffiti had a particularly negative energy that dragged people down and tempted them to fall.
"Spar, have you found the medicine?"
The shouts of "March 7th" could be heard.
Spah snapped out of his reverie, stared intently at the graffiti, imprinting it deep in his memory, then turned around and picked up the medicine from the ground.
Bang! Bang!
The medicine was in a paper bag, which was being shaken repeatedly. Soon after, Spah met up with March 7th and Hook.
"Hehe! Two whole bags of medicine, aren't I amazing?"
Shake the paper bag on the seventh day of the third month.
She grinned, revealing her snow-white front teeth.
"Hmph! Lord Black Hook is no worse than you!"
Hooke put his right hand on his hip and picked up a bag with his left.
The bag wasn't very big, and it was rattling around inside; judging from the sound, it probably didn't contain much medicine.
It looks like...
Berloberg's math education wasn't very good.
Spall muttered to himself.
Tap tap! Tap tap tap! Tap tap tap tap...
Suddenly, footsteps sounded outside the orphanage.
"Someone's there! Be on alert!"
Spall said in a low voice as he walked to the entrance of the orphanage and saw a dozen or so people walking towards him in the distance.
They held shovels in their hands, their faces covered in mud.
What's even more concerning is the clothes those people are wearing; they're dusty and patched up with one patch after another.
"He is a vagrant."
Hook crouched to one side, his body close to Spa's:
"Many people in the lower levels have lost their homes due to the expansion of the rift. This group of people is very aggressive. If they see us, who are dressed in good clothes, they will most likely rush up and rob us..."
"Steal? That won't do! I'll charge out and take them down in no time!"
On March 7th, he started yelling and was about to rush out the door.
Spall stretched out his arm to stop her.
"No matter how bad the homeless are, they are still unfortunate people, and I don't want to cause them unnecessary harm. Well done, well done..."
"what?"
March 7th, tilting his head.
Spah... was he really such a saint?
On March 7th, the more he thought about it, the more something seemed off.
The next second, Spah's lips curled into a wicked smile.
"Little sister Hook, do you want to play something fun?"
Chapter 84 Let's Play Home Alone
Wow!
Spa waved his hand, and a blueprint appeared in the air.
The paper was filled with neatly arranged circles, squares, and other structures. Although he couldn't understand them, Hooke felt a sense of familiarity with them.
"This is the floor plan of the orphanage."
Spah pursed his lips, trying to suppress a laugh.
The next second, his smile vanished, and he said coldly:
“There’s a movie in my hometown called ‘Home Alone’, which contains methods for toying with, or rather, lightly injuring, homeless people.”
Huh?
That sounds interesting!
March 7th and Hook, both playful by nature, became interested in what Spa was saying and came over to listen.
"We do this and that, and so on..."
Spall whispered in their ears.
The girls' eyes lit up as they listened, and they nodded repeatedly, a mischievous smile creeping onto their lips.
Not long after, the three of them went their separate ways.
Meanwhile, the group of homeless people arrived at the orphanage.
"Brother Wolf, Brother Wolf, are you sure there's what we're looking for in the orphanage?" a skinny, monkey-like homeless man asked.
He took small, quick steps and approached a homeless person.
The homeless man didn't appear particularly strong at first glance, but his clothes concealed muscles. Even more striking were his green eyes, which seemed to hold a wolf-like ferocity.
"The intelligence can't be wrong. Besides, given our current situation, we have no right to doubt this or that!"
No sooner had he finished speaking than Wolf stepped into the orphanage.
The orphanage was dilapidated. A pale white light seeped into the room, striking the walls. The walls, which should have been snow-white, were already covered in dust.
Yellow tables and chairs were scattered all over the floor like building blocks. A gust of wind blew by, and the tables and chairs creaked and trembled.
I knew orphanages were bad, but I never imagined they were this bad... Could there really be something hidden here?
Wolf Brother was suspicious, but dared not say it out loud lest he dampen the brothers' enthusiasm. He could only take a step and walk inside.
A cold wind blew in.
Wolf Brother tightened his clothes, urging his brothers to hurry up after just waking up, when he heard a strange sound.
"Woo, woo, woo..."
The sound was like a woman crying, or like a ghost wandering in the ruins.
"Brother Wolf, sob..."
The monkey-like wanderer went straight up to Wolf Brother.
"Get out of here! What use are you if you're such a coward?"
Wolf pushed the monkey away, his eyes darting around alertly, trying to figure out who was crying.
But instead of finding him, they heard the sound of a piano. The melody lingered in the low register, as if a giant beast was lurking deep within the orphanage.
"I hate it so much! I hate it so much, I hate it so much..."
The woman's wailing echoed all around.
"Ugh!"
The monkey screamed first and grabbed the wolf's trouser leg.
Immediately, more homeless people cried out, and like sheep encountering wolves, they scattered and fled.
"This is a prank! Don't panic!"
Wolf roared, grabbed the monkey, threw it aside, and strode forward toward the source of the sound.
Before long, he arrived at a door.
The sound of crying, mingled with melody, drifted out from behind the door, sometimes intermittently.
Wolf Brother reached out and grabbed the doorknob.
But even though his hand didn't touch it, he hesitated in his heart.
If the music is man-made, then there's most likely a trap behind the door, and you shouldn't rush in.
Thinking of this, Wolf Brother waved his hand and beckoned Monkey to come forward.
The monkey lowered its head, timid and hesitant, hiding in the crowd and refusing to come out.
"You idiot! You have absolutely no backbone!"
Wolf gritted his teeth, moved behind Monkey, and kicked him right in the butt.
The monkey trotted forward several steps before stopping. But as soon as he stopped, he was already standing in front of the door.
"Quick! Turn the handle!"
Wolf Brother's green eyes flashed like lightning as he stared intently at the monkey.
The monkey dared not disobey and touched the handle with its finger.
"Ugh!"
Screams sounded.
Wolf Brother shifted his gaze to the doorknob, where he saw grayish-black smoke rising from its upper part. Monkey's palm, on the other hand, was bright red, even burning a layer of skin.
"Ghosts! Ghosts! This is hellfire punishing us! We've robbed so many people and committed so many sins in our lives! I was wrong! I was wrong! Waaaaah..."
The monkey began to howl. To Wolf Brother, the sound was several times more terrifying than the wailing of a ghost.
"No! There are no ghosts here, just some bastards playing tricks!"
Wolf said coldly, pushing the monkey aside.
To think they designed such a trap… I must say, the person who set it was quite skilled; they managed to fool me.
but!
You are done!
A cold glint flashed in Wolf Brother's green eyes. Like a wolf, he gritted his teeth and slammed his body against the door.
Clang!
The door was smashed open, and Wolf rushed inside.
"Hmph! That's all the tricks you have."
Wolf Brother snorted coldly.
Wow!
