Chapter 28 Your Little Cutie is on her way
The exhibition at the Florence Cathedral was held as scheduled.
After the opening ceremony of the exhibition in the church square, the church, which has been set up as an exhibition hall, will be open to visitors.
Each visitor can spend half an hour in the church to admire the several precious relics on special display, and also to stand in front of the temporary stage to watch the beautiful opera performed by the opera troupe invited by the church.
The Spear of Longinus, the most precious artifact on display, is placed in the center of the exhibition hall, allowing visitors from all over the world to appreciate this work of art from every angle.
The gun, broken into three pieces, is displayed in a glass case with a gold-plated red background. The silver-white gun body is engraved with exquisite gold patterns, and under the projection of the exhibition hall lights, it reflects an incomparably sacred, faint light.
The holy spear that once cleaved through enemy lines and swept away filth on the battlefield has become an exhibit that can only lie in a beautiful display case for people to admire.
If the Holy Lance had a spirit, such a fate might not make it happy.
As is customary, the second floor of the church is reserved for VIP rooms that are never open to the public for reservation.
The large screens in the VIP rooms allow the VIPs to enjoy more clearly the operas praising the deeds of the Sacred Artifacts performed on the temporary stage, and to appreciate each Sacred Artifact that interests them in greater detail on the high-resolution displays, thus avoiding the need to "squeeze in with the common people" in the crowded hall below.
Capilison Spear was already waiting in one of the VIP boxes. He had deliberately turned down all business negotiations for the day, just to wait for the "thing" he wanted on this one and only day of the Longinus Lance exhibition.
"Young Master, it's already two o'clock in the afternoon, but so far everything is normal," the bodyguard beside him said to Spiel.
"Heh, the Dark Night Vampires only operate at night. Let's wait a little longer."
“But, young master, is the loss of this day really worth the clue you need? Every minute you stay here, we lose an astronomical sum.”
"It's alright. For our group, business always comes to us. Anyone who isn't even willing to wait a day longer has already been excluded from our list of business partners."
Spier laughed.
"As for this 'clue'—its value cannot be measured in money."
...
As night fell and it approached 5 p.m., the opera performance came to an end. Only a few scattered visitors remained in the exhibition hall.
But one person, just as the exhibition hall was about to close for the day, leisurely stepped into the church.
Since the cameras connected to the VIP rooms could only observe the sacred artifacts, Spyr had been observing the tourists below from a hidden spot in the second-floor corridor for quite some time.
He immediately noticed the tourist who had just entered the hall.
"It's you... It's not surprising that you came. But this time you're not the 'clue' I need."
The tourist Spyr saw was the church knight, Yin Shang, who wore a hood and carried a long canvas staff.
...
...
Yin Shang looked around and confirmed the situation of the exhibition hall.
"Yes, there's exactly half an hour left before the exhibition closes today. Although the exhibition will continue for a few more days, the Lance of Longinus will only be on display today."
The young man approached and gazed longingly at the broken holy spear.
"It will probably be sent back to the church tomorrow. At that time, not only will the church knights not have a chance to see it, but even the clergy in the cathedral will not have a chance to see it. This is a rare opportunity to admire it."
Immediately afterwards, his expression turned serious.
"...It's also a rare opportunity for some guys to launch a sneak attack."
“Reinhardt, hide near the Holy Lance and see if you can resonate with the holy artifacts in the hall. That way, we can project a sensory barrier made of holy light, and we can both immediately detect any impurities that intrude.”
Yin Shang quietly gave Reinhardt the command, and it leaped out of Yin Shang's pocket.
"Good host."
Just as Reinhardt disappeared below the booth, a hand slapped him on the shoulder.
"Sir, what did you just let out?"
Looking back, he saw a security guard staring at Yin Shang with a suspicious look on his face.
Yin Shang quickly explained, "Ah, it's nothing, you must be seeing things."
"Sir, pets are not allowed inside!" the security guard repeated.
"What are you saying, security guard? I don't have any pets! Go and see for yourself downstairs!"
Yin Shang quickly used telepathy to tell Reinhardt to hide. After the security guards searched for him without success, Yin Shang stood there with an embarrassed smile, waiting for the security guards to speak.
"Look, brother, you must be seeing things."
"Wait! Kid!"
The security guard persisted in holding onto Yin Shang, who was trying to escape.
"What are you carrying on your back? Why is it glowing?"
Yin Shang glanced sideways and then remembered—he had asked Reinhardt to resonate with the sacred artifact, and a prominent feature of the resonance was that... the sacred artifact itself would glow!
It has now undoubtedly been seen by the security guards through the canvas.
"Sir, please come with us!"
...
Spier shook his head as he watched Yin Shang being taken away by security guards.
"It seems that this church knight is indeed an irrelevant person, just a meddlesome idiot."
"He doesn't actually think... he can handle the guy who's eyeing the Holy Lance, does he?"
Spier's expression twitched slightly.
"Fine, it's best if a nobody like him dies, that would save a lot of trouble."
...
"Ah... damn it!"
Yin Shang finally managed to get away from the security guards, but in return, he could no longer enter the exhibition hall. No matter how much he pleaded or even showed his church knight insignia, the security guards refused to let him in, citing the need to clean the area.
"Reinhardt! I can only keep an eye on the church entrance from the outside. How's the situation on your end?"
Yin Shang's telepathic communication was quickly answered, with Reinhardt replying:
"Reporting to my master, I have completed the connection with the holy artifacts in every corner. If any unclean thing approaches within a ten-meter radius of them, the disturbed holy light particles will be sensed by my holy artifact brothers and sisters."
"That's all for now. I can only rely on you. Please let me know as soon as possible!"
Reinhardt replied confidently, "Leave it to me, Master. A piece of cake."
...
Yin Shang sighed and was about to find a chair to sit down and wait when he suddenly saw some guys who stood out conspicuously among the ordinary crowd and were pointing at the cathedral.
He abruptly inhaled the breath he had just exhaled.
Who else could it be? Of course, it's those two vampire ladies who make no attempt to conceal their vampire characteristics.
...
"Hey Hey hey!"
Yin Shang quickly walked over and stopped them.
"What are you two doing at the church's reliquary exhibition area?"
Ludwig, with an unwavering look in her eyes, turned to Ruokeke and said:
“Oh—look, Coco, we’ve found the right place! This is the exhibition site for the Spear of Longinus. Even the church knights are here.”
Yin Shang's eyes instantly turned cold.
"Ha, as expected, your visit to Florence at this time was definitely not a coincidence for tourism."
Ludwig scratched her head, completely bewildered.
"Huh? What are you talking about?"
Yin Shang said, "Who ordered you to steal the Spear of Longinus? Wait... this maid from the Vampire Council is also here, so the outcome is already obvious."
Coco puffed out her cheeks: "Hey, listen to me!"
Ludwig also took two steps back: "We also want to know who's eyeing the Spear of Longinus, so why are you so sure it's us?"
Seeing that the negotiations were about to fall apart again, Yin Shang sighed.
"Alright, if you're really not here for it, then get away from here. I don't want to be mistaken for a bad guy by innocent vampires."
"The premise is... that you, who are highly suspicious, are truly innocent," he added.
"Okay, okay, let's leave now."
Ludwig muttered something and was about to pull Coco away when suddenly Yin Shang bared his teeth.
Because of the effects of the telepathic connection, Yin Shang also felt Reinhardt's pain, but this was amplified countless times by the telepathic link.
"Reinhardt, what's wrong?"
"Master, Master! Dark forces are approaching... The faint holy light barrier surrounding the church collapsed the moment it touched it!"
Yin Shang sighed and said, "Ah, that's right, there were dark forces approaching, standing right in front of me. I didn't let them get close. Don't get so excited next time."
Reinhardt remained silent for a moment, its fear quickly surging into Yin Shang's mind.
"..."
"Master, something's not right!"
"It's an extremely powerful dark energy entity... It's getting close, it's about to enter the church!"
Yin Shang froze instantly.
He gave the two women beside him a terrifying look, then turned and rushed toward the church.
Ludwig and Ruoke looked at each other in bewilderment. In their eyes, the man had simply frozen in place, then given them a strange look before running away.
"Hey, what's wrong? Did something happen at the church?" Ludwig called out.
Without turning his head, Yin Shang said, "Don't follow us! Who knows if you're in cahoots? This sacred church isn't a place for vampires!"
Because their clothing made running difficult, the two couldn't catch up with Yin Shang in a short time. Yin Shang, not caring about stopping them, rushed through the gate without looking back, ignoring the security guards' attempts to stop him.
Ludwig suddenly realized something, and she looked up—
The overwhelming darkness vanished in an instant, dispelling the gloomy twilight and making the night around the church seem to have arrived early, so dark that you couldn't see your hand in front of your face.
All the humans collapsed unconscious in the intense darkness, and even the security guards at the entrance who tried to stop Yin Shang staggered and fell to the ground. But the people outside seemed oblivious to the strange occurrence around the church, turning a blind eye to it all.
A false moon rose slowly in the dark sky, piercing through the pitch-black darkness and shrouding the church in a fake moonlight.
...
...
"whee..."
"Shadows covered the sky, black wings blotted out the sun."
The young girl, wearing elegant high heels, stood motionless on tiptoe at the highest point of the church.
Her slender feet supported her gracefully curvaceous body, and her elegant purple gown fluttered gently in the night breeze, accompanied by her slightly curled golden hair.
"Blood Shadow - Dark Domain"
"Hehe, my little Shirley, this power is really useful."
She muttered to herself, her fingers lightly brushing the blonde hair behind her ear.
"I've been waiting for this moment for so long, so very long."
A sickly smile appeared on her face as her fingertips brushed across her blonde cheek, lingering at her lips, where she lightly licked them with the tip of her tongue.
"Hiss Liu."
Her bright red eyes were brimming with barely suppressed fervor.
"It seems some cuties are trying to stop me. But that's okay. I won't keep you waiting too long."
call--
She spread her jet-black wings and gracefully leaped down from the top of the church.
