Chapter 5 Deadly Twin Blades
Chapter 5 Deadly Twin Blades
"Let's go."
Duncan led the way into the unfathomable darkness, followed closely by Lichta, Laofen, and others.
Lynn followed at the back of the group, his hand instinctively resting on the hilts of the twin swords at his waist.
Inside the tomb was a long, straight staircase leading downwards, with magical lamps on the walls barely illuminating the way.
"Be careful, everyone. These ancient tombs are usually full of traps."
Duncan was ahead checking for traps.
After advancing for a while, a group of gargoyles with bat wings and bull horns suddenly attacked.
Lynn leaped into the air, using the giant stone fist swung by the golem as leverage.
His body twisted in the air, his right leg like a battle axe, carrying immense force, and slammed into the neck of the golem that attacked first.
Click!
He kicked a huge golem head away, sending it tumbling through the air before crashing to the ground.
The massive body, now headless, collapsed with a crash, turning into a pile of rubble.
"Well done."
Duncan smiled and nodded. "It seems we have a remarkable warrior hidden in our ranks."
"what!"
But soon, Reggie fell into a trap and was locked on the other side of the wall.
Lynn attacked the wall with his sword first, but to no avail. He immediately said, "Girl, smash the bottle and run! Your life is more important."
Soon, Regg was carried by the golem and burst through the wall, running out of the maze.
"The golem is so powerful."
Laofen was amazed.
"I didn't expect to eliminate one person so quickly."
Duncan, on the other hand, expressed his regret.
"Let's keep going."
Lynn spoke, and the group continued on their way.
Suddenly, Lynn and Duncan both became alert and looked in a certain direction.
Tap, tap, tap...
A series of clear footsteps came from the direction Lynn and Duncan were looking.
Immediately afterwards, a figure slowly emerged from the darkness.
She wore a high-slit skirt, had her hair in a cute bun, sported playful side-swept bangs, and had a face that was exactly like Laofen's.
The moment they saw the figure clearly, everyone present was stunned.
Laofen covered her mouth, her eyes filled with horror, "That...that's...me?"
The "Laopin" that emerged was about to raise its hand to attack when it was annihilated by Duncan's magic beam.
"I've never seen such a high-fidelity replica before. Everyone be careful from now on."
After Duncan finished speaking, he led the group to continue.
Lynn followed slowly behind, knowing that if they went any further, they would run into Frillie's clone.
Given his current strength, he lacks the confidence to fight Frilian, so it is wise for him to follow behind and wait for Frilian herself and Philon to arrive.
……
After Lynn and the others passed through a huge stone gate, a suffocating wave of magical energy came from ahead.
That magic was vast, ancient, and filled with a certain languid serenity.
Not far away, a petite figure stood quietly in the center of the hall.
Silver-white hair, pointed ears, and holding the iconic staff in his hand.
It's Frillie.
But her once bright eyes were now empty, and the magic surrounding her was so dense that it was almost tangible.
"All personnel halt."
Duncan's voice was serious, he held his staff horizontally, cold sweat beading on his forehead, "I really want to smash the bottle and run away from here."
"Are you kidding me..."
Lishita looked at the clone of Frillie and gasped, "Are we really going to fight this kind of monster?"
The clone, Frilian, slightly raised her staff.
In an instant, all the magic in the entire hall was drained away.
Countless tiny magic circles unfolded densely in the air.
"run!"
Duncan gave a low shout and turned to run.
Without the slightest hesitation, everyone quickly turned around and rushed out the door.
Rumble—!
A deafening explosion came from behind.
Everyone ran outside in one breath, only stopping when the oppressive magical power weakened slightly.
Duncan leaned against the wall, breathing heavily. He looked at Lynn with a probing look in his eyes: "Lynn, it seems like you knew what was going to happen all along."
"It's just my gut feeling that things are dangerous ahead."
Lynn leaned against the wall, her tone remaining calm.
Just then, footsteps came from the other side of the passage.
The real Frillie and Philon came out.
"Now we just wait for them to deal with that thing."
Lynn knew how the plot was going to unfold, so she simply sat down in the corner and lay down.
After a brief rest, everyone except Lynn returned to the front of the hall.
Frillie and Philon entered side by side.
A terrifying surge of magical energy erupted instantly within the hall.
……
Before long, the battle in the hall was nearing its end.
The group opened and pushed open the door, only to see Frillie taking care of the unconscious Philon.
Philon's robes were badly torn, and his staff was gone, indicating that he had been greatly depleted.
"You won?"
Laofen exclaimed in surprise.
"Um."
Frillie put away her staff, looking slightly tired.
Just as everyone breathed a sigh of relief, Lynn's hair stood on end.
The next second, a dark shadow, moving at a speed beyond the reach of the naked eye, swooped down from the shadows of the ceiling.
The target was Raofen, who was completely unprepared and ready to cheer.
"Be careful!"
The stone bricks beneath Lynn's feet shattered instantly, leaving an afterimage of his body in place.
clang--!
The two swords clashed, sparks flying.
Lynn blocked the dark figure.
It was a man wielding two swords, dressed in the exact same clothes as Lynn, and exuding the same aura.
A clone of Lynn.
"This is another big problem."
Duncan frowned.
Here, the clone Lynn tumbled through the air and landed without pausing. He then tapped his toes again, transforming into a gust of wind that swept in.
Lynn took a deep breath, a ruthless glint flashing in his eyes.
"I'll play with you to the very end!"
The air was torn apart in that instant.
Lynn and his clone's twin swords clashed wildly in mid-air, the dense impact sounds blending together as if hundreds or thousands of iron hammers were striking simultaneously.
Of all the mages present, apart from Frilian, none of them could clearly see the two's movements.
Laofen raised her staff to offer assistance, but found that her vision couldn't keep up with the two ghostly figures, so she tried to get closer.
"Don't interfere."
Duncan pulled Laoffen back, his tone grave, "In close combat at this level, we'd be instantly shredded if we went in."
boom!
Lynn met the clone with a heavy slash.
The immense recoil caused the ground beneath their feet to collapse simultaneously, and spiderweb-like cracks spread rapidly.
Immediately after, Lynn sidestepped the clone's horizontal slash and delivered a powerful knee strike to the opponent's abdomen.
The clone neither dodged nor evaded, taking the kick head-on, and then used its right hand to strike Lynn's throat with its longsword at an odd angle.
A suicidal fighting style.
Lynn quickly tilted his head back, the sword blade grazing his nose, the resulting gust of cold wind severing a few stray hairs from his forehead.
"Frilian, you're still watching the show?"
Without turning his head, Lynn shouted, "Do you still want to pass the test?"
Frilian then raised her staff, and magic rapidly condensed at its tip.
Several black light beams ripped through the air, blocking the clone's escape route.
