The Department of Law and Politics was plunged into chaos and panic. Even the reclusive Dean of the Clock Tower, and even the former Marshal of the Magic Path, Zelrich, had to step forward to take charge.
Reorganizing the Law and Politics Department became the Clock Tower's top priority. The investigation of Chaldea, the assessment of Animusphia and the Astronomy Department, all became less important, allowing Olga Marie to handle the situation in a relatively stable manner.
Although it still takes time, it is no longer as stressful as before.
“I heard from Miss Reines that even if the Department of Law and Politics spends a hundred years, it will never be able to recover,” Grey said, mentioning what she had heard.
“It doesn’t matter how many years it has been, it has nothing to do with us,” Olga Marie said.
She knew her attitude was irresponsible, but now she just wanted to get away from this troublesome place and didn't want to deal with these trivial matters anymore.
Although there was no concrete evidence, Olga Marie knew perfectly well what was going on—that the prestigious Barthezello family would be wiped out overnight.
It was Ms. Shiomi who personally handled it after returning to the Clock Tower.
The reason is simple: to protect her.
Upon hearing the news, Olga Marie was almost immediately certain of it, but she did not feel fear.
Perhaps it was the qualities she developed as a magician that allowed her to face the outcome with greater detachment. That's her guess.
Ultimately, however, as a family that possesses the current Grand Marshal of the Magic Path, Bartholomew would certainly not be able to accept the fact that the mystical arts are beginning to decline rapidly and will completely disappear within a thousand years.
When the time comes, the disasters caused by this ancient magician family will probably be no less than those caused by Animusfia.
In a sense, it is also to safeguard human reason and to sever magicians who have deviated from humanity.
However you explain it, it's all just Olga Marie's way of putting her mind at ease.
“…Alga Marie…” Grey’s voice brought Olga Marie back from her thoughts.
“Sorry, I was just thinking about something,” Olga Marie said.
"Shiomi-sensei sent an email, wanting to know the progress." Gray held the phone, which she wasn't very familiar with.
“I’ve basically finished explaining everything that needed to be explained to Kirshtalia,” Olga Marie told Grey how to reply. “She might come back to help with minor matters later, but it won’t be long before the Clock Tower officially recognizes Kirshtalia as the new monarch of the Astronomical Society.”
As for the fact that mystery will inevitably perish after a thousand years, Kirshtalia is more at ease than expected.
"If that's the outcome the teacher believes is better for humanity, I choose to accept it. It's the duty of a loser," Kirshtalia said at the time.
The new Department of Astronomy will be centered around Monarch Wodim, with Ophelia and Kadoc joining as its right-hand men.
Debit will assist in his capacity as a member of the Heritage Department.
Peperoncino embarked on his journey as always, while Hinako Akuta went to an ancient place where no one could find her.
After all, that's a matter from a thousand years later.
I wonder how far the world will have developed by then.
As Olga Marie and Grey emerged from the clock tower building, they saw a group of magicians hurrying across the courtyard toward the building where the meeting was being held.
Among the crowd, one can see the monarchs of the various departments of the Clock Tower.
Their voices rose and fell, as if they were arguing about various things even while traveling.
“Oh, the teacher said his car is right by the roadside,” Grey excitedly told Olga Marie.
"Great."
For some reason, Olga Marie felt the pressure on her shoulders, which had been so heavy just moments before, suddenly vanish, and her mood became lighter.
"Speaking of which, where are we going next?"
“As we agreed before, we’re going to the orphanage outside the city.” Grey thought for a moment. “The people we brought out from the Nordic Lostbelt are all there now. They said we’d have dinner together then.”
"I see."
As Olga Marie passed through the gate, she saw cars parked on the side of the street.
She glanced back at the clock tower, a building she knew all too well.
"Get in the car quickly, or we might get a ticket from the traffic police if we wait any longer."
Sitting in the passenger seat with the window down, Shiomi greeted them cheerfully.
Final Chapter (Part 2)
No matter how many times she saw it, Olga Marie always felt she couldn't get enough of the London street scene, a blend of old and new, under the dim light of day.
I almost thought I would never see it again in my lifetime.
"Speaking of which, why is Ms. Morgan driving?" Olga Marie asked curiously from the back seat.
Shio leaned against the passenger window: "Do you even need to ask? Of course it's because I just got my driver's license and a new car. It's like a kid getting a new toy."
“That’s not how it works.” Morgan turned the steering wheel with practiced ease. “My husband usually drives; I’m just helping him out.”
“Yeah, that’s true.” Xi Jian suppressed a laugh and agreed with Morgan’s words, while constantly dodging Morgan’s hand to the side. “Watch the road, watch the road… Even if we’re all not afraid of a car accident, you should still think about others.”
After being told this by Shio, Morgan had no choice but to give up pinching Shio and put his hand back on the steering wheel.
“A driver’s license…” Olga Marie said thoughtfully, “I should learn to get one sometime.”
Now that I'm no longer living the life of a magician aristocrat, having more life skills will be beneficial for my future life with my teacher.
“If you want to learn, you’ll have plenty of time later.” tide Jian smiled quietly. “In fact, we have plenty of time right now.”
“Yes,” Olga Marie replied expectantly.
The car quickly drove out of central London and sped along a quiet suburban road.
Olga Marie rolled down the car window and looked at the scenery outside.
"Did the Clock Tower give you any trouble?" Morgan asked.
“The Clock Tower is already struggling to survive.” Olga Marie shook her head. “With Barthemello gone, the decline of the Law and Politics Department is a fact.”
“Not long ago, the Dean and Zelrich visited me together,” Shiomi said casually. “Obviously, they know who did it.”
Shiomi is referring to the massacre of Barthezmello's family.
“But I don’t think I’ve heard anything unusual,” Grey said.
"Of course not." tide Jian shook her head.
They may have come with a reason, but the moment they saw Shio, they understood that some things were irreversible and undeniable.
Therefore, in the end, they didn't even have a conversation. They just glanced at each other from a distance across the street before turning away, conveying their attitude that they would not bother Shiomi again.
After all, if things continue like this, Shiomi could start with the aristocratic faction outside of El-Melloi and Wodim, then move on to the neutral and democratic factions, and continue until the Clock Tower is completely unable to survive.
Whether to peacefully transition to an era where the mysterious no longer needs to exist, or to rapidly disappear, is an easy choice to make.
The Wandering Sea will only hide in an era that Shiomi cannot reach.
The Atlas Academy has now largely withdrawn from worldly affairs, and Sion, as its representative, also stands by his side.
“To be honest, I felt this was the right thing to do a year ago,” Shiomi said.
Unfortunately, at that time, his body had not yet fully recovered from the effects of the divine punishment.
On the other hand, the power at their disposal is not yet sufficient to protect their comrades who fought alongside them after going to war with the Clock Tower or even the Mage's Association.
But the situation is completely different now.
Even the second-ranked mage is not a threat.
That's why Shio was able to unleash her full potential and get things done.
"When we regained consciousness after Singularity F disappeared, we found ourselves in Chaldea before the attack," Olga Marie said. "This not only resolved the blanking issue, but also erased the bad consequences."
“Indeed, it’s just a moment for everyone else, but for us it’s been a rather long process.” Morgan stared ahead at the road, slightly turning the steering wheel to follow the curve.
“But even Chaldea…” Gray said.
“In a sense, you have actually experienced a re-creation,” tide Jian smiled, “but it was a limited re-creation.”
The events of January 1, 2018, will be completely corrected, and the fact that Chaldea has ceased to function will be fixed in advance.
All of this is based on the destruction of Singularity F.
“The teacher never mentioned this at all,” Olga Marie puffed out her cheeks. “Only the three of them, including the head master, know about it, right?”
"After all, time is of the essence, and there's no time to explain," tide Jian said with a helpless smile.
Then, Olga Marie and Grey also laughed.
They weren't complaining; they just felt a little excluded, like a victory achieved in a state of bewilderment, and a bit disappointed.
"Speaking of which, where are the head nuns and the others?" Olga Marie asked. "There can't just be a few of us, can there?"
"Here..."
tide Jian stretched out her finger and pointed to the left side of the road.
Olga Marie turned her head and saw Aozaki Touko driving her convertible sports car, with Scáthach and the others in the back, overtaking their sedan at a slightly faster speed.
"We'll go ahead first. Don't be too slow and keep everyone waiting too long."
After Scáthach uttered those words, Orange's supercar accelerated and overtook her.
Then Morgan stepped on the gas and gave chase.
This brought the original scheduled arrival time forward by about half an hour.
"Honestly, why are you running so fast? It's such a nice day." tide Jian said to Morgan with a smile as she got out of the car.
Morgan unbuckled his seatbelt: "After all, we haven't seen each other for two months. It would be good to catch up today, since the orphanage is officially open for business."
“That makes sense,” Shio said, indicating her understanding.
After all, apart from their family, the original Chaldea members all went their separate ways after that.
Chaldea was handed over to Gordolf, who had originally acquired half of the power.
Romani left Chaldea and is now helping to run the orphanage that shelters Lostbelt survivors. Mash and Ritsuka attend regular school in London and come to help out when they have free time.
The other employees who participated in resolving the issue of human rights abuses stayed at Chaldea.
Sion returned to the Atlas Palace.
Leonardo da Vinci the Great chose to leave, leaving Leonardo da Vinci the Younger to follow Romani.
“Just like my husband said, we have plenty of time.” Morgan gently closed the car door, walked over to Shiomi who had walked around the front of the car, and took his hand. “Whether it’s fast or slow, we can enjoy every day that comes.”
“Yes, this is the everyday life we’ve finally reclaimed after going through so much.” Shiomi looked at her gently. “This time it’s not twenty years, but a much more ample amount of time.”
Morgan nodded, and just as she was about to agree, she heard her daughters at the entrance of the orphanage calling them over loudly.
"Oh dear, I'm being rushed," Shio said with a smile.
"It's all your fault," Morgan said with a smile.
"What's it to blame me for?"
"It's your fault for insisting on talking to me."
"What kind of logic is that?"
"I am the truth."
"Her Majesty the Queen is being unreasonable."
"His Majesty the God-King is no less impressive."
The two bantered lightly as they walked toward their families who were waiting at the entrance of the orphanage.
