Connors wouldn't openly say that "Lord Superman" had asked him to come and examine the character of his fellow Kryptonian. He only gave vague answers to Kara's questions.
Seeing that she couldn't get any information out of her, "Supergirl" Kara simply put the matter out of her mind. She returned to the side of the thin girl, Lucy, who was kneeling on the ground, and placed her hands on the girl's shoulders:
"Alright, now that your father's killer is dead, you can gather your strength, go home, and start your life anew."
Although Lucy had avenged herself, she didn't seem as happy as one might expect. She simply presented the longsword that had severed Krim's head with both hands:
"Although I personally severed Krim's head, it was you who helped me accomplish this. Please accept this longsword."
"Supergirl" Kara raised an eyebrow, pinched Lucy's cheek with one hand, and turned her towards Connors:
"Are you sure it wasn't him who helped you? If he hadn't changed the sun's spectrum, I couldn't have done what I did."
Lucy then realized that Supergirl's feat of soaring into the sky and dismantling the giant spaceship was related to Connors's gesture of changing the entire sky.
She was in a dilemma: she only had one longsword, but she had two benefactors, which left her unsure of what to do. She could only sincerely invite them:
"If you don't mind, I would like to invite you to my home. I will have my mother prepare the most sumptuous feast to entertain you."
Connors remained noncommittal, but surprisingly, "Supergirl" Cara nodded in agreement.
"No problem. It would be best to find this gentleman another job so that he doesn't have to keep following me around."
Kara pointed at Connors and said.
Lucy smiled awkwardly, knowing that the two powerful individuals in front of her were joking.
Lucy knew she didn't have the ability to find a job for someone who could change the entire sky with a wave of his hand, and besides, the person didn't need one.
The wreckage of the spaceship fell to the ground with a clatter. Kara searched around for a while and finally pulled a tiny device out of the dirt, sighing regretfully.
Looking at this thing that resembled an airplane's black box, Connors asked curiously:
"What is this?"
"This is the spaceship's flight data recorder, and it's also a tool for sending out distress signals," Kara said, tossing the device to the ground. "Unfortunately, it's useless now."
This is still the "black box," Connors nodded:
"It's really useless."
With Krypton gone, the black box's functions of recording data and sending distress signals are useless.
Lucy followed closely behind the two, listening to words she couldn't understand at all.
Glug glug—
Lucy's stomach growled again. She hadn't eaten a single bite since she'd been chasing "Supergirl" all morning, and as an ordinary person, she was starving.
"Aren't you going to restore the sun?" Kara asked Connors, pointing to the yellow sun overhead. "The creatures and plants on this planet are used to the red sun. If it turns yellow in the future, it could very well lead to famine and extinction."
Lucy, who was leading the way, suddenly stopped and stared blankly as Connors reached out to grab the sun again.
Although the yellow sun was millions of miles away, under Connors's "light energy manipulation" command, the spectrum of sunlight changed from yellow back to red once again.
"Light-year manipulation" is just one of Connors' many abilities, and although he can use this ability to absorb energy from other stars in the universe, it is still somewhat useless to him.
This seemingly useless ability was like a miracle to Lucy.
Hungry, Lucy led the two back to the bar. The bar owner, seeing the three return unharmed, looked as if he had seen a ghost.
"You guys are still alive?!"
"Should we die?" Kara retorted.
Connors' heart skipped a beat, and he tentatively asked:
"Did you reveal our location to that bounty hunter and Krim?"
"I didn't!" the bar owner denied vehemently.
Kara found a table and sat down with Lucy, watching Connors with great interest.
She didn't care whether the bar owner had betrayed her information, but Connors was someone who always sought revenge.
Yesterday, the bounty hunters left first, while Connors and the other two waited until Lucy had filled her stomach before leaving. Logically, the bounty hunters shouldn't know where they went.
The only explanation is that the bar owner told the bounty hunter the direction the three had gone, which led to the scene today where the bounty hunter and Krim tracked down the three together.
The "dream relic" allowed Connors to directly enter the bar owner's memories. After confirming that it was indeed him, Connors looked at the bar owner without saying a word and sat down opposite Kara.
"What? Didn't you get any answers?" Kara asked.
"I've used some methods to get the answer; he did betray us," Connors said.
"If you're so determined to get to the bottom of things, why have you stopped taking action now?" Kara asked.
"The reason he betrayed us is that his wife and children were threatened with knives to their necks by bounty hunters. Do you think I would still hold a grudge against him?" Connors replied.
Kara nodded knowingly, watching with Connors as Lucy wolfed down her food, while the two of them only drank some not-so-good wine.
The bar owner's expression shifted for a long time at the bar, and he finally made up his mind just as the three were about to leave:
"I overheard your conversation, and I was indeed threatened. As compensation, I've chosen to tell you something you're sure you're quite concerned about."
"Oh? There was an unexpected bonus?" Connors asked curiously. "What news?"
"The bounty hunter and Krim threatened my family, saying that the king had sent an army to the girl's hometown."
The bar owner's words made Lucy jump up on the spot:
"Why? They killed my father, and now they want to send my whole family to be buried with him?!"
"What is the charge?" Connors asked.
"It seems to be a charge of assaulting members of the Royal Guard," the bar owner said.
Cara, one of the "Supergirls," chuckled to herself.
"First, they went to confirm the existence of a dissident who doubted the new king, killed him, and deliberately left behind a longsword. This way, when a member of the dissident's family picked up the sword to seek revenge, the crime would already be established?"
"So that the country can legitimately mobilize its army to kill the entire family of anyone who questions it?"
What kind of country is this? Connors looked at Teng Teng Teng taking a few steps back, and Lucy, who looked incredulous, had a headache.
"I'm going to save them," Kara said to Connors, supporting Ruth.
Her eyes were incredibly determined, as if she was determined to handle this matter.
