Chapter 362 Lifeline

Chapter 362 Lifeline

From "Supergirl" Kara shoving a bottle at a bounty hunter's mouth to her snatching his weapon and pointing the sword at the throat of the man lying on the ground.

It all happened in an instant. The frail girl, who was seeking revenge, didn't even have time to react. She only saw a blur before the man, who was as strong as a bull, fell to the ground.

Connors remained seated next to them, when the bar owner, seeing that something seemed about to happen, rushed over in a panic.

Before he could say anything, "Supergirl" Kara rolled her eyes, and the two longswords in her hands clattered to the ground.

Her whole body fell backward.

Connors stood up just in time to support Carla, preventing her from collapsing.

Kara's eyes were closed, and her breath smelled strongly of alcohol, suggesting she was drunk.

"He'll pay for what he broke," Connors said, pointing with his toe at the bounty hunter lying on the ground.

Upon hearing that he would have to pay compensation, this guy immediately jumped up again:

"You think I'm afraid—"

Boom!

"Okay, I'll pay for it."

The bounty hunter looked at the man who had crushed a table leg as thick as his wrist into a pile of wood chips with his bare hands, and took a step back as he ran.

"Give her another meal, she's starving." Connors pointed to the bewildered, thin girl beside him.

"Okay, I'll buy it." The bounty hunter was also single, so he took out all the money he had on him, threw it into the bar owner's hand, and turned to leave.

Connors didn't stop her. After a while, the bar owner brought over a dish of food, and the thin girl, disregarding everything else, immediately began to wolf it down.

Seeing how much she was enjoying her food, Connors couldn't resist secretly taking a small bite, then silently spitting it out.

"Do you have a place to stay? This guy is drunk, we can't just leave him in the bar like this."

It wasn't until the thin girl started burping that Connors finally spoke, "I do, but—" she began cautiously.

"You still need a powerful person to help you get revenge, right?" Connors gestured with his chin towards Kara, whom he was supporting. "This girl is stronger than me; she's the most suitable person for you."

The thin girl nodded, picked up the longsword from the ground, and led Connors out of the bar.

Her living quarters were quite simple, or as we would say in China, bare-bones, seemingly an abandoned house with a drafty roof and walls.

The girl spread straw on the ground and carefully laid Kara down on it before sitting down and looking at Connors, hesitant to speak.

"We'll talk about it when she wakes up," Connors said.

The girl continued to nod, sitting on the ground with her arms wrapped around her knees, staring blankly at the drunk and asleep "Supergirl" Kara.

Kara's tattered coat was slashed open by the bounty hunter's sword aimed at her neck, and both Connors and the girl could see the red and yellow markings inside.

Seeing that Kara had clothes under her coat, the thin girl took off Kara's tattered coat and threw it aside.

Just as Connors had predicted, Cara Delevingne was wearing her classic outfit under her tattered jacket: a blue, fitted long-sleeved battle suit with the "Hope" logo bulging high on her chest.

Beneath the narrow, gold belt was a short skirt as bright red as the cape, and over-the-knee boots tightly hugged her straight legs.

This outfit, combined with Carla's long, flowing golden hair and youthful, vibrant face, made her look like she belonged to another world.

It wasn't originally like that.

Unfortunately, the smell of alcohol on her body ruined her overall beauty.

Connors also sat on the ground. With his "biofield," he wasn't worried about getting his clothes dirty. The thin girl didn't seem to care about adding another stain to her clothes either; she just stared at Kara longingly.

This stalemate continued until sunrise the next day.

"F**k!"

With a burst of American profanity, both Connors and the frail girl knew that Kara had woken up.

"You often talk about this 'f**', especially when you're in pain," the thin young woman asked with concern. "Is he your husband?"

Kara glanced at her, then at Connors, and finally looked down at her own red and blue battle suit. She sighed and said:

"Why did you take my coat off? You shouldn't be seeing this."

The thin girl brought a basin of water and placed it next to the straw:

"Even though the color and embellishments of your underwear are unique, it doesn't matter. It covers enough, and I'm a woman too."

Kara washed her face, a few strands of long, golden hair hanging down from her forehead, sticking to her face with the wetness. She asked:

"And what about you?"

"I've seen plenty of women's underwear, does this count?" Connors asked.

Kara from "Supergirl" sighed:

"Fine—no, it doesn't matter. Who are you?"

The frail girl hurriedly spoke:

"My name is Lucy, and I am a witness to your skill and courage."

"I want to hire you to kill Krim, who killed my father and threw him into the ground."

The girl named Luce drew the longsword:

"In return, this weapon will be given to you after Krim dies. Perhaps you don't understand the value of this sword, but the fact that a bounty hunter tried to obtain it through despicable means is enough proof."

"So now you know not to offer the sword with both hands?" Kara said with a laugh. "I know it's great, but I don't need a sword, sorry."

"Nonsense, everyone needs a sword. If my father had carried a longsword, he wouldn't have been killed by Krim." - Lu Sai.

Carla tilted her chin at Connors, a drop of water sliding down her beautifully curved jawline, and said:

"But you see, neither he nor I have swords."

"So you need this sword," Lucie persisted.

"I can't explain it to you," Kara said, rubbing her head in exasperation. "You should look for someone else, because I won't be staying here for long."

Why?

Kara put on her worn-out coats one by one, hiding her red and blue battle suit beneath its tattered exterior:

"I came to this planet with the red sun specifically to celebrate my birthday—I came to drink, but now I'm going home."

"Goodbye, and good luck. I think the gentleman next to you would be quite suited to your longsword."

"Supergirl" said, then turned and left.

Lucy turned her gaze to Connors, who now looked like a drowning man desperately trying to grab onto anything floating on the water.

"If she leaves, then I will leave too," Connors said, looking expressionlessly at the frail Lucy.

Lucy immediately ran out of the dilapidated house, but there was no trace of "Supergirl" Kara outside.

"If you're determined to win her over, I can help you," Connors said.
