Chapter 278 The Philosopher's Stone
Morgan Lefebvre was about to speak when the pinkish-purple magical light in her eyes suddenly flickered.
"There's someone rapidly approaching here—no, there are two!"
Her brows furrowed even deeper, and with a wave of her hand, Mordred, who was swinging her sword at the air not far away, vanished instantly, disappearing without a trace.
Just as she was about to cast a spell and leave the museum right under Connors' nose, Connors suddenly snapped his fingers.
The crimson chaos magic immediately disrupted Morgan le Fay's control over the magic, extinguishing her plan to teleport away.
"Are you in a hurry?" Connors asked, looking at her.
Morgan Lefebvre tried to pull her hand away from the other's, but to no avail; her voice held a hint of pleading.
"I cannot afford to clash with them until I find the Philosopher's Stone!"
Connors nodded, not wanting to make things too difficult for the medieval witch.
The "telepathy" completely enveloped the two of them. Although they were still standing in the same place, Morgan Lefebvre found that his sense of existence seemed to have disappeared.
Just as she was wondering what was going on, the museum's skylight was opened.
The "Lord Bat" swooped down silently, swiftly and quietly searching for something within the museum, which had been utterly destroyed by Mordred.
"The Philosopher's Stone—that's the legendary thing that the witch was looking for," Lord Bat murmured to himself.
Just as his mask emitted a blue light, seemingly scanning everything around him, the museum door opened again, and a middle-aged man with dark red hair, wearing a khaki suit, walked in.
"According to legend, it is the jewel on King Arthur's sword, 'The King's Sword,' and the source of all witchcraft and magic in the world."
"Lord Bat" turned to look at the newcomer upon hearing the voice, and Alfred's voice from Earth Zero quickly came through the mask:
"Young Master Bruce from another Earth, the person before you is named Jason Brad. His official identity is the curator of this museum, but no information can be found about his childhood, adolescence, or even his youth."
"What I mean is, Jason Brad seems to have lived with this face in front of you for centuries."
The "Lord Bat" remained completely still, barely even moving its mouth:
"Thank you, Afu."
"No need to thank me, it's my honor to be able to help another young master Wayne."
On the other end of the call, Alfred smiled and said.
After speaking with "Lord Bat," Alfred quickly connected to another communication system:
"Young Master Wayne, you can rest assured in apprehending those supervillains who returned to Earth from the Shadowlands—" The Lords of Justice are investigating this matter.
"Understood." Earth Zero's "Batman" deep voice came through the communication system.
Two Batmen, two Supermen, two Wonder Women, two.
Everyone in the Justice League and the Lords of Justice seemed to be in pairs, except for Connors, the Outsider, who was all alone, which was rather strange. Alfred leisurely took a sip of coffee and began typing on the keyboard to look up information about Jason Brad.
At this point, "Lord Bat" had already begun talking to Jason Brad:
"Is Morgan le Fay the mastermind behind this? What is her purpose in searching for the Philosopher's Stone?"
Jason Brad is a burly, but shorter than "Lord Bat," middle-aged man who appears rather stern.
"With the Philosopher's Stone, she can rebuild the dynasty and place his son Mordred on the throne."
"How far is she from finding the Philosopher's Stone?" Lord Bat asked.
"Very close."
Somewhere in the museum, Morgan le Fay, whose "telepathy" was blocked, rolled his eyes and whispered to Connors:
"As you can see, I'm at a loss when it comes to finding the gem, and I'm not as serious as he made me out to be."
"Then you'd better find the Philosopher's Stone as soon as possible, or you might never find it again," Connors warned.
"Why?" Morgan Lefebvre asked, puzzled.
Connors explained:
"Batman and the Justice League are currently hunting down supervillains around the world who have returned to Earth from the Shadowlands and whose locations have become disoriented."
"Righteous Lords from another Earth are all you're dealing with right now. — But if the Justice League gets their hands on you, you'll be facing two Batmen, two Supermen, two Wonder Women, two Flashes, and two..."
Morgan Lefebvre, seeing Connors counting on his fingers to show him, quickly covered his forehead and interrupted:
"No, wait, if you're willing to help me, I believe they shouldn't be a problem."
"You're overthinking it. I won't help you." Connors looked at Morgan Lefebvre, who was about to join his side at the slightest disagreement, with a puzzled expression.
This medieval witch seems to be somewhat deluding herself:
"Then why did you help me hide? You already knew we hadn't found the Philosopher's Stone, and I tried my best to avoid conflict with the Lord of Justice and that demon."
"Oh, I won't help either side, but I will help both sides if necessary. I was about to ask you another question, but they suddenly interrupted me—my question is, what did you do to the 'Lord Hunters'?" Connors asked.
Morgan Lefève was now completely bewildered:
"Are you inquiring about the whereabouts of the 'Lord Hunter' because you feel it's a situation where you must intervene to help them?"
"No, it's because we're 'friends'," Connors corrected.
Morgan Lefebvre took a few minutes to process Connors's logic, then slowly began to speak:
"While 'superheroes' around the world are busy catching criminals, I'm bringing Mordred to this museum."
"Then a telepathic connection came through, seemingly trying to invade my brain to find me."
Connors pressed, "And then?"
"Then I sent him into the dream world. When I realized he was the 'Lord Hunter' you mentioned, I also sent the rest of the 'Lord of Justice' into the dream world."
"What about those besieging soldiers and castles around me? That must have been a dream, and the master of that dream was the demon Itrigan," Connors asked.
"That was my dream. When I realized I couldn't send you into my dream, I chose to pull you into mine. But I couldn't stay with you in the dream, so I later sent you into Itregan's dream."
"It seems that everyone except 'Lord Hunter' has escaped the dream, which surprises me," Morgan Lefebvre said, staring intently at Connors' reaction.
But what Connors said next was somewhat unexpected:
"Then send me into the dream world too. If you have a strong will, you should be able to do it, right?"
"But why do this? Aren't you afraid you'll also get trapped in the dream and unable to escape?" Morgan Lefebvre asked blankly.
"If I can't get out, wouldn't that mean you've lost a powerful opponent?"
Morgan Lefebvre thought Connors made sense, and that sending Connors back into the dream world would do her no harm.
Then the scene around Connors began to change rapidly, from a medieval museum to a desert of earthy yellow and rusty red.
