"Ah!"

Tarachin waved his hand. "Threatening me?"

"Which coward who doesn't fear death doesn't know my formidable reputation?"

The King of Figurines gave a mocking smile. "But you, aren't you afraid I'll announce your existence to the Fearful Dead?"

Hades spread his hands, emphasizing a calm and sincere demeanor.

“If you wanted to do something to me—you would have done it long ago, ten thousand years ago,”

Hades said sincerely, “But you didn’t, Tarasin, and I am extremely grateful for that, although you did feed me quite a few strange things while I was unconscious, but I have decided to forgive you.”

"Hey?"

Tarasin sneered. It had already stood up and was walking around Hades' command room at ease, taking whatever it liked and keeping it for itself.

Hades remained seated, tacitly accepting Tarasin's little "hobby".

"Can you give me back the good food I fed you?"

The Endless One said, drawing out the words, and began reciting the names of the dishes.

“A fragment of a Void Dragon, a fragment of a Nightbringer, a fragment of a Deceiver, seven stars…”

“Stars are fine,” Hades’s voice echoed softly behind it, “but Star God… Tarasin, frankly, the Deceiver is not a good idea.”

Tarachin's leisurely pace came to a halt, and the space necromancer paused.

"But I see you—you seem alright now?"

Tarazin said somewhat uncertainly, turning back to look at Hades.

“That’s definitely not a good idea,” Tarasin said. “I’m just—I’m just so annoyed by that piece of debris, which I got from Serenade Star.”

It walked up to Hades, looking him over as its hand reached less-than-cleanly towards the small pendants on Hades' waist. There was a Burner's Fragment Cage, a Resting Magnus Fragment, and a token with the Greenskin.

These odds and ends, resembling a large keychain, were tied around Hades' waist.

Hades silently protected his pendants, and when he realized he couldn't touch them, Tarasin withdrew his hand.

“Hmm,” Taracin nodded knowingly, “I know of a rumor… that some Star Gods can cover up and manipulate other Star Gods… but I didn’t expect it to be a fraud.”

"But you look great."

Taracin added the second half of the sentence, "What happened?"

The space necromancer's green eyes stared at Hades, who coughed twice.

“Other fraudster fragments have set their sights on me because of this, but thankfully I woke up from their illusion.”

"Then everything is fine."

Tarachin commented, "Haha, I believe you won't get into trouble so easily, at least not a fraudster."

Hades looked away, feeling a little guilty.

"Nothing to worry about for now."

Hades added, "I'm a half-baked one, Tarasin, I still haven't figured out how to eat."

Taracin paused, looking Hades up and down.

Then he burst out laughing.

“This is the first time I’ve ever seen a creature that would starve itself to death,” Tarasin laughed. Sometimes he would fall into deep thought about raising such a terrible creature, but at other times the idea would start to seem counterintuitive.

The space necromancer glanced meaningfully at the Burner fragment at Hades' waist.

"You've already gone this far, you shouldn't—"

Taracin's voice trailed off, while Hades wore a blank, perhaps contemplative, expression.

“I did that when I was half out of control,” Hades said with a hint of helplessness. “I can’t do that now, Tarasin.”

Taracin's casual posture suddenly froze.

The Endless Ones recalled their mortal enemy, the Astrologer Euricane. As the former chief astrologer of the Fearful Ones, Euricane could also briefly "ascend" to the status of a star god when the stars aligned.

Tarahim witnessed it all firsthand.

Hades' situation may be similar to that of Orikan. Talazin knew all too well what that state was like—the individual would be completely swept away and covered by a much larger being, leaving not even one in ten remaining.

That experience, at least, completely changed Orichen.

This is not a good thing. At least Tarachin doesn't want to see something like Orikan again. It's something terrible. When you see it, some deeper emotion tells you that it's pretty bad.

Now Taracin became serious, and it scanned Hades again very carefully.

“Hades,” Tarachin asked with concern, “you don’t have a strong urge to devour souls, do you?”

Hades' expression seemed to confirm bad news.

"Uh... I'm a little hungry."

Hades said that Tarachin emitted a sharp, popping sound.

"I've created another 'Star God'?!?"

"Wait, what do you mean by 'again'???"

"Eurican!" Tarasin shouted angrily. All it wanted was to satisfy its collecting obsession while doing some good deeds, why did it always turn out like this?!

"That brief promotion of the astrologers!" Tarachin exclaimed, "was also indirectly facilitated by me!"

Yay! That's all for tonight.

Just so you know, some of my required major courses end in half a semester, and then there's an exam, so I have to take exams.

Chapter 638 It Should Be Cut

Karas, who was squatting on the ground, rubbed the deactivated metal on the ground with his foot. The old soldier looked up at the ripples in the distance of the maze with boredom.

Beside him, Primarch Mortalian stood ramrod straight, carefully observing the Void Dragon's condition.

Mortalian paused suddenly, and the Primarch looked away with some confusion. Karas, who was standing at his feet, noticed the Primarch's bewilderment, but Karas's reaction was still to let his mind wander.

【…】

Karas didn't respond, so Mortarian slowly spoke.

I felt... a premonition... had come.

Karas responded by rubbing the liquid metal on the ground with the toe.

------------

"again."

Hades said calmly that he remembered.

In the original book, there was indeed a routine fight between Tarasin and Orikan. The battle took place on Serenade. Tarasin had a slight advantage in the duel, but then discovered that he had been deceived by the Star God Deceiver. After that, Tarasin and Orikan teamed up and eventually captured the Deceiver who had fused with at least three Star God fragments.

During the battle against the fraudsters, Eurycan briefly ascended to a state of energized star god. When the stars were in their proper places, this skilled astrologer could draw upon a great deal of energy to ascend to godhood.

Of course, the celestial positions were wrong during that battle, so Pokémon Master Tarrashin contributed one of his collections—a Spirit Gem.

...?

Hades frowned, scrutinizing Tarasin. Where did this guy appear? Why are star gods popping out of nowhere?

And... the Deceitful Fragment that Tarasin fed him before, it seems to be the same one he obtained on Serenade Star?

Tarasin glanced at Hades, then looked away.

"Me too—I'm also confused about this. I'm just an ordinary overlord with some hobbies."

Hades fell silent, gazing at Tarasin for a long time. Seeing that Hades remained silent, Tarasin casually picked up another piece of rare metal from the command room.

Hades' silence was so deafening that the space necromancer, unable to bear it any longer, coughed twice in a human-like manner.

“So,” the space necromancer waved his hand irritably, “that’s it, another one, another one!”

"You just asked me if I yearn for a soul—could it be?"

Upon hearing Hades mention this, Tarachin finally stopped collecting the items. The space necromancer remained silent for a moment, then spoke in a serious tone.

“Eurican,” it said, as if recalling a painful event, “the time Eurican ascended to godhood—I’m sure I saw the greed and contempt in its eyes.”

“You don’t understand. Although we don’t like each other, the Eurycan I know would never look at me with that expression. I know that. That look is cold enough and greedy enough. It’s… I know very well that it’s the gaze of the Star God.”

Hades seemed lost in thought, while Tarachin took the opportunity to glance at Hades' eyes again—the Figurine King was certain that Hades did not show any signs of danger.

"So...this is a normal phenomenon?"

Hades pondered for a moment before speaking. In the original work, Orikan's way of thinking did indeed change drastically the moment he became a Star God. In the original work, Orikan clearly expressed his disgust for his fellow "space necromancers" and even understood the life-transformation ritual.

But if Eurycan had not ascended to godhood, the thoughts it had at the moment of its ascension would have been completely unacceptable to it.

Tarasim fell silent, then glanced at Hades again.

These are just two examples; how do they determine whether this is a normal phenomenon?

“Given that I am the only one who witnessed both of you,” Tarasin thought for a moment, then continued, “I have a hypothesis.”

"tell me the story."

“Star Gods are pure energy beings,” Tarasin waved his hand, and a ball of energy appeared in his palm. “They release a great deal of energy every moment they exist, so Star Gods are extremely thirsty for energy.”

"Therefore, the Star God feeds on the stars,"

Hades propped his chin on his hand. "Then what about the soul?"

Tarahin was silent for a moment,

"The soul itself is a form of energy."

it says,

"Or it could be a carrier of some kind of high-energy substance."

The space necromancer looked at Hades, and saw a look of sudden realization on Hades' face, as if it had been enlightened.

"Haven't you thought about this question before?"

Tarasin wiped his face.

"The physical world has matter and energy, and the boundary and criteria between energy and matter are very clear. Subspace, on the other hand, is quite different. You can think of it this way..."

Tarahim pondered for a moment,

"In the subspace, emotions and thoughts are carriers of energy, the 'matter' of the subspace; the soul is a kind of being composed of these 'matter'."

"Chaos itself is a collection of massive amounts of energy, gathered together according to the laws of the subspace—these laws can be understood as the four fundamental forces in the physical world."

"Psionic beings are those who connect two worlds because their physical bodies and souls are combined. They can 'mobilize' energy from the subspace and direct its release through their will—the matter of the subspace."

"I've said a bit too much," Tarachin thought. "But has no one ever told this to this psionic Muggle before? Are humans really that confident?"

...Could it be that the Empire believes Hades was born knowing these things?

Or is it because humans haven't figured these things out either? The words of those witches and sorcerers are just too deceptive.

Tarasin remained silent for a moment, then decided to steer the conversation back on track.

“That’s why the celestial beings of the physical world are happy to absorb souls, since souls themselves possess energy,” Tarasin said, withdrawing the energy ball from his palm. “And… I’m not entirely sure, but judging from your reactions, it’s highly likely that these souls have different tastes, and you prefer them to stars.”

Hades remained silent as he began to try to recall the feelings he had experienced when he lost control. Hades realized with horror that he could indeed "taste" psychic energy from different sources.

"Then we come back to the original problem: I need to consume a lot of energy to suppress the Star God's desires."

Tarasin nodded.

"Your current state is equivalent to low power consumption. Once you enter the state of a star god, under high power consumption conditions, your instinct will drive you to actively seek food, to eat stars, or to eat souls."

"The Fear of Death created a device specifically for the Star Gods to feed—don't look at me like that, Hades."

Tarachin abruptly interrupted.

"I don't have that technology right now. In fact, the Necromancers of space could never build such a device again. The last embers have long been buried in the corners of history."

Hades thought for a moment, then dug out a few keywords from his vast memory.

"The Breath of the Gods?"

He spoke uncertainly, while Tarachin nodded.
