"Wow—Magnus, awesome!!!"
Hades howled, his shouts shaking the heavens and the earth. Years of accumulated ashes fell from above their heads, landing on Hades' head.
Hades jerked his head away, and Magnus immediately tried to move away, but due to the restrictions of the Dark Domain, he had to stand within the range that the Ash Wave could just reach.
Hades burst into laughter, "Tzeentch, you've finally met your match!" But as he laughed, the laughter gradually subsided.
Hades stared intently at Magnus, and with his other hand outstretched, Black immediately refilled Hades' cup. Magnus's eye twitched as he watched the son of Hades pour some unidentified, fuel-like, murky liquid into Hades's cup.
Magnus swore that if his son treated him this way, he would make that son experience the most terrifying time of his life.
But Hades just stared at Magnus, took a big gulp...
"Magnus, a toast to you!"
Magnus's outstretched hand hovered slightly in mid-air. The Primarch had just wanted to tell Hades not to drink the fuel—even if he did, he shouldn't be offered such garbage! But before Magnus could react, Hades chugged it down in one gulp.
Hades put down his cup, stared solemnly at Magnus, and then—he burped again.
Magnus's initial excitement subsided.
"Hiccup," Hades looked at Magnus, "Hiccup, Magnus, as long as you are loyal—I, Hades, will certainly lend you a hand to help you piece together a physical body and rebuild the Red Emperor!"
Magnus felt a sense of wanting to be moved but unable to. If someone else had said those words, he might have been more moved.
Even though it was the last time Hades was willing to believe him, Magnus smiled bitterly, looking at his translucent hand. No one was willing to believe him. If anyone else had been willing to believe him just once, he, Magnus, the Crimson King, wouldn't have fallen to this state.
"Your story..." Hades' voice trailed off, then suddenly rose again, "It will not be forgotten!"
Of course not!
Magnus suddenly raised his voice, "My great deeds will be known throughout the stars—everyone will know that Magnus saved humanity!"
Clap clap clap!
Hades clapped enthusiastically, and on the other side of the bar, Blake also clapped enthusiastically.
Magnus chuckled, triumphantly placing the crystal glass on the bar. "Another one, please," the Crimson King said nonchalantly, gradually losing himself in the flattery of the two applauding Hades.
Blake immediately poured in the remaining rotten-looking garbage—the drinkable stuff was for Hades.
Mingzi watched silently as Magnus drank it.
"Ahem," Magnus coughed, "So..." the Primarch drawled, "Hades, would you be willing to ease your control over me?"
"Do not."
Hades immediately replied, “That’s called protection, Magnus.”
Magnus choked for a moment, staring at Hades, but Hades, like a Tai Chi master, deflected Magnus's gaze.
【it is good. 】
Magnus appeared nonchalant, but he understood Hades's underlying meaning—after being imprisoned for thousands of years, his strength had been greatly diminished, and if he were to show himself alone, he would undoubtedly attract the attention of various factions.
It seemed safer to stay by Hades' side. Magnus glanced at Hades, a chill running down his spine.
He had tried his best to refrain from looking at Hades with his psychic eyes, but the deep-seated fear and nausea lingered around him.
Because he had been imprisoned within the magic circle and was constantly enduring extreme pain, Magnus can now barely suppress his instincts and stay by Hades' side as long as Hades doesn't use the Dark Domain to attack him.
Although Magnus could hardly tell whether the previous physical pain was more unbearable or the current mental attack was more despairing.
Only the great Magnus, with his extraordinary willpower, could have allowed him, as a psionicist, to endure being near Hades for so long!
Magnus thought for a moment, then asked, "What are your plans next?"
Hades was silent for a moment.
"Can you send me into the warp, Magnus?"
Magnus shouted almost immediately.
You should respect the Most High God—Hades!
This was almost a roar, "Me? I'll send you to the highest heavens?!"
Magnus shouted menacingly, "Perhaps you should have some self-awareness. Has no one described to you how monstrous you were in the warp?!"
Then Magnus looked at Hades and decisively shook his head.
The Primarch felt a suffocating sensation. If this were a mortal, Magnus would have already thrown this stupid person to the Mechanicus to be made into a servant. But this was Hades—the King of the Underworld could make him into a servant.
Magnus repeatedly convinced himself to regard the Hades before him as a primitive barbarian from a swamp planet, whose differentiation was closer to that of an ape than a human.
Even if the gorilla in front of him could obliterate him with a single punch.
"No," Magnus said calmly, "at least I can't get you in—but..."
Magnus asked, "Why do you want to enter the warp?"
The greasy, dim light shone on Hades' face, like the turbulent psionic currents of the warp. Hades blinked and said...
"First, I hope to perform a subspace jump."
Magnus immediately shook his head. "Perhaps you can enter warp space, but warp..."
Magnus's voice trailed off; he frowned as he stared at Hades, then almost burst out laughing.
I hope you have a basic understanding of warp.
“Fine,” Hades said, spreading his hands in resignation, “I give up on that fantasy, so, secondly…”
Hades paused, "I hope to go into the Warp to rescue Mortalian. We can't let him be idle while we're at work."
I can try contacting Mortarian.
Magnus immediately replied, "That's not difficult—as far as I know, that madman is quite famous in the warp."
Even in prison, Magnus had glimpsed the warp ripples stirred up by Mortarion.
He has a deep connection with death; if you gather enough death, I might give it a try.
Hades was taken aback.
At his feet lay a jumble of corpses, their bodily fluids long since dried.
On this whirring, empty ship, countless corpses lay peacefully at their posts, their faces serene, as if they were merely asleep.
Death—there is plenty of it, of course, but the problem is that the deaths of these gene-stealers are not the kind that can be conceived in the subspace.
Creatures that die in the Dark Zone do not form the concept of a subspace.
Now, adrift in the vast galaxy, where will Hades find the death to provide Mortalian's summoning ritual?
"Tyron's death, is that acceptable?"
Hades asked hesitantly.
Magnus shook his head. "The deaths of alien races should be acceptable, but the disturbances they cause in the Warp are strange; I don't recommend it."
"What about the green ones?"
Magnus's expression began to look interesting. [Isn't there any other choice?]
Hades thought for a moment, then said stiffly, "This area is full of green-skinned creatures and bugs."
"Then the death of the green-skinned ones," Magnus said, his eyes darting away, "the great Magnus... will succeed."
That's all... Yay! Goodnight and sleep well!
Chapter 565 Another Farewell
Hades had originally prepared himself for a long period of separation from Tess and his group.
But what no one expected was that twelve hours after Hades and Black were thrown onto the Mauro, Tees and the others were standing on the Tarask-class ship again.
The ship, its engines blazing and then shutting down, slowed down. People boarded, standing on the deck, looking at their friends whom they had just parted from with a puzzled expression.
Hades stood before them, just as before, as did Black.
The only difference is that a keen-eyed person will notice that Hades has added a small accessory to his waist.
The dark red stone hanging in the moss-green woolen bag with exposed bristles creates an inexplicable sense of incongruity.
Hades coughed twice, just about to explain to the crowd, but before he could speak, a loud shout erupted from the disembarking crowd on the other side.
"Boss!"
The clever mind popped out and excitedly gave Hades a warm hug.
"1, 2, 3, 4! I counted correctly, didn't I!"
"That's right! The numbers after that are 56789!"
Hades patted the clever head, and the clever head happily went back. Only then did Tess, who was behind Eugene, come out and look at Hades uncertainly.
The nobleman bowed gracefully, kneeling on one knee.
"Sir, please forgive its rudeness... and may I ask what this is?"
"Iss asked, puzzled?"
Hades chuckled awkwardly twice.
“Mauro and his vassal psykers have betrayed the Empire,” Hades said. He didn’t want Magnus to be exposed for the time being; the Death Guard and Ultramarines would suffice to meet him, but the Grey Knights were out of the question.
After a brief discussion with Magnus, Hades decided to go and find a green-skinned planet to wreak havoc on.
“So I executed them,” Hades said. “In addition, most of the people on his ship were gene stealers—you can think of them as hybrids of Tyrannosaurus and humans—so I killed those people as well.”
Because of the bowing gesture, Hades couldn't see the expression on Tess's lowered face, but he did see the slight twitching in Tess's expression.
“I am genuinely pleased that the empire has rid itself of this pest.”
Hades sighed. "Laugh if you want to, Tess. And get up, no need to bow."
The noblewoman stood up, her face beaming with a joyful smile, as if she had finally avenged her great grievance.
"Lord Hades, I knew he was no good, a heretic, the moment those bastards, Mauro, threw the Undead onto my ship—praise be to your judgment!"
Behind Tiss, the Sky Lion Barry stirred slightly. The noblewoman immediately realized she had been too smug and seemed to have said something wrong.
She tried to control her expression and replaced it with a polite smile—but it was still very festive.
Hades smiled. "He deserves it, Ms. Wood."
"The heretic has been eliminated, but I'm wondering if you'd be interested in taking over this ship?"
For Hades, the ship was too big; he didn't need such a large ship. He might as well give it to Tess and his party so that they could leave this sector of the star system more quickly.
Moreover… Hades thought that perhaps Magnus wouldn’t be happy to stay on the ship that imprisoned him indefinitely.
Hades watched as Tess's expression was about to crumble; the noblewoman was caught in a complex state of wanting to burst into laughter yet having to hold it back.
“Thank you, Hades,” Tess said in a low voice, bowing again. “But the Wood family is too small to be worthy of your favor.”
Oh, that's a useful way to decline. Hades understands. Even at 40k, in this kind of situation, both sides need to decline each other's offer, and then the other party humbly accepts it while saying a few nice words to the other party.
Hades, who had engaged in countless verbal battles with the tech enthusiasts, was already quite adept at this kind of situation.
Hades was about to speak, to finish this polite exchange, when at that moment, the previously silent Celestial Lion Barry spoke up.
“My lord,” Barry said sullenly, “you can entrust this ship to the Sons of Dorne for now, and we will hand it over to the Death Guard once we have contacted them.”
Hades watched as Tess's face turned red, then white, then blue, then red again.
If Hades hadn't been there, Tess probably would have drawn her sword and fought Barry to the death.
Tiss stomped her foot, her high heels making a crisp sound, but Barry seemed not to understand the nobleman's meaning and continued speaking seriously.
“In the name of the Celestial Lion, my lord, we will return this ship safely to the Death Guard.”
Hades wanted to laugh too, but he held it in.
He had actually planned to just give it away for free, but what could Hades say in front of the righteous and outspoken Son of Dorne?
“Alright.” Hades nodded, picking up where Barry left off. “Thank you, warrior.”
Barry bowed solemnly and accepted the mission, while Black, who had been standing next to Hades, suddenly coughed.
Hades didn't even need to think about it, and Blake wanted to laugh too, but he wasn't skilled enough and couldn't hold back.
Hades waved his hand. “Let’s begin the relocation.” He looked up and glanced back at the ship, which was almost completely destroyed. “Most of the survivors on this ship are semi-modified servants. Your crew will probably only be able to barely keep the ship running.”
“By the way,” Hades paused, “I would like you to leave your ship behind? Would that be convenient, Ms. Tees? The Death Guard will provide you with appropriate compensation.”
