Chapter 152 The Imprint of the Feng Family

Wangchuan Family's Dried Rice King's new work is here, updated first across the entire internet!

"Fellow Daoist Chen is indeed a reasonable person." Feng Changyuan's smile widened, and he stepped aside to lead the way. "The three of you, please follow me."

Chen Anran followed, with Huiming and Qi Lan close behind.

The group walked through the airport terminal and did not head towards the usual taxi or ride-hailing pick-up point, but went straight to the VIP passage.

Outside the passageway was a luxury bus, which was already full of people through the windows.

Feng Changyuan's smile remained unchanged as he led Chen Anran and the other two towards the luxury bus, the door of which slid open silently.

The interior is spacious and luxuriously decorated; it's more like a mobile living room than a bus.

There were about a dozen people seated, men, women, young and old, dressed in various styles, some in casual wear, some in martial arts uniforms, and even two elderly men dressed in what appeared to be modified Tang suits. They seemed to be sitting casually, some with their eyes closed in rest, others talking in hushed tones, but the moment Chen Anran and his two companions stepped into the carriage, all eyes, whether open or hidden, focused on them.

Among these gazes were scrutiny, curiosity, indifference, and also a deep-seated wariness.

Chen Anran's expression remained unchanged as her gaze calmly swept over everyone in the car before finally settling on Feng Changyuan's face, a half-smile playing on her lips: "The Feng family's way of treating guests is truly... unique."

Feng Changyuan seemed oblivious to the unspoken meaning, his smile remaining warm as he led the three to the reserved seats in the middle of the carriage: "Fellow Daoist Chen, please forgive us. The family has been very busy lately, and manpower and vehicles are somewhat strained. We have no choice but to trouble the three of you to travel with us. It just so happens that some of the clan elders would like to get to know Fellow Daoist Chen along the way."

As soon as he finished speaking, an elderly man with a gaunt face, dressed in a dark blue Tang suit, slowly opened his eyes. His gaze, sharp as lightning, fell upon Chen Anran, carrying an invisible pressure. He did not speak, but the aura emanating from him was as steady as a mountain, clearly indicating that he possessed considerable cultivation.

Another middle-aged man, dressed in training clothes and with bulging temples, openly sized up Qi Lan and Hui Ming.

Huiming clasped his hands together, lowered his eyes, seemingly oblivious to the gazes around him, but his aura was harmonious, subtly protecting Chen Anran at the center.

Qi Lan was even more direct. She raised the brim of her baseball cap slightly, her amber eyes meeting the middle-aged man's gaze without hesitation. A wild, provocative smile even appeared on her lips, causing the man to frown.

Chen Anran seemed completely unaware of all the undercurrents, and calmly sat down in the empty seat, with Huiming and Qi Lan sitting on either side of him.

"It's alright, it'll be more lively with more people." Chen Anran's tone was relaxed, even a little leisurely, as if she were truly there for sightseeing. "I just wonder when we'll be able to see my senior sister?"

Feng Changyuan sat opposite them and smiled, "Xiao Lu is currently in seclusion within the family, preparing for an important... um... internal family exchange activity soon. Fellow Daoist Chen, rest assured, once we arrive at the main family and your accommodations are arranged, we will naturally arrange for you to meet."

The words were perfectly worded, but the word "arranged" carried a deeper meaning.

Chen Anran nodded, asked no more questions, and turned to look at the scenery rushing past the window. The winter scenery of Yun City had a damp and cold grayness, which was completely different from the prosperity of Guang City and the tranquility of Yunyin Mountain.

The vehicle moved smoothly, and an eerie silence fell over the passenger compartment. Only the low growl of the engine and the whistling wind outside served as background noise.

Feng Changyuan tried to find topics to ease the atmosphere, such as chatting about the local customs of Yun City, or subtly inquiring about the recent situation of the Yunyin Sect, but Chen Anran's responses were always brief and bland, neither awkward nor in-depth. Huiming, on the other hand, kept his eyes closed, seemingly in a meditative state. Qi Lan simply closed his eyes to rest, his hat brim pulled down, isolating himself from the outside world.

The old man in the Tang suit and the man in the training clothes closed their eyes again, but their spiritual senses still faintly enveloped Chen Anran and the other two.

Halfway through the journey, the vehicle entered a winding mountain road, with steep mountains and desolate forests on both sides.

At that moment, the luxury bus suddenly stopped. It wasn't because it had reached its destination, nor because it had encountered a traffic jam.

The driver's slightly nervous voice came from the front seat: "Brother Yuan, there's a fallen tree in the middle of the road ahead, blocking most of the road."

Upon hearing this, everyone looked out the car windows.

In the middle of the winding mountain road ahead, a tree, not particularly thick but with many branches, lay across the road. It had clearly fallen recently, the broken ends still fresh. Leaves and branches were scattered all over the ground, completely blocking the already narrow two-way lane.

Feng Changyuan exchanged a glance with the old man in the Tang suit, and the old man nodded almost imperceptibly.

Feng Changyuan immediately stood up, his face bearing just the right amount of apology: "Please be patient, everyone. It's probably because the mountain wind was too strong and broke a dead tree. I'll have someone clean it up right away, and it'll be done soon." As he spoke, he gave a wink to the two Feng family members sitting at the back of the carriage.

The two young men stood up in response and prepared to get out of the car.

However, Chen Anran suddenly chuckled, "Why bother you two?"

Before he finished speaking, Qi Lan, who was sitting next to him, had already moved.

She didn't even stand up; she simply flicked her finger casually towards the tree blocking the road through the car window.

An invisible yet sharp burst of energy shot out, as fast as lightning!

"Bang!"

With a muffled thud, the tree lying across the road seemed to have been cleaved in two by an invisible giant axe! Wood chips flew everywhere from the broken section, and the two sections of the trunk, impacted by the immense force, tumbled and slid to the sides of the road, revealing a passage wide enough for a car to pass through.

The entire action happened in the blink of an eye, clean and efficient, without even raising much dust.

Inside the carriage, there was a deathly silence.

The two Feng family members who were about to get off the car froze in place, their movements halted. The other members of the Feng family, including the old man in the Tang suit and the man in the training clothes, suddenly had a glint in their eyes.

Just as Feng Changyuan was about to try and soften his tone, the old man in the Tang suit sneered, "Changyuan, why should my Feng family act like this? Even in this era of declining Dharma, my Feng family is still a great clan of cultivators!"

The man immediately echoed in a deep voice, "They're just three Qi Refining stage cultivators. What difference would it make if a conflict broke out?"

Feng Changyuan gave a wry smile, "But the patriarch said..."

The elderly man in the Tang suit interrupted, "The patriarch is just too weak!"

To everyone's surprise, Chen Anran laughed. He was not nervous at all and clapped his hands, saying, "This old gentleman from the Feng family is absolutely right. Why bother with roundabout ways in life and business? Those methods are never respectable and make you seem too petty."

After saying that, Chen Anran opened his palm, and a large wooden seal instantly appeared in his hand, which was the Small Universe Seal.

"If there are grudges between cultivators, they still have to let their own strength speak for itself."
