Chapter 151 The Feng Family's "Wen Jie" - A Step-by-Step Maneuver

Chapter 151 The Feng Family's "Wen Jie" - A Step-by-Step Maneuver

A reading feast: a vast collection of books and an unparalleled reading experience.

"It seems the Feng family intends to 'accept' the offer through official channels." Chen Anran's lips curled up slightly.

He wasn't surprised; it would be strange if the Feng family didn't react after Feng Xiaolu sent out a distress signal. However, the fact that they chose such a "gentle" approach was rather interesting.

The first disturbance occurred at the security checkpoint. A serious-looking staff member in an airport security uniform stopped them.

"Excuse me, gentlemen and ladies, please wait a moment. The system indicates that your luggage requires a second security check." The staff member said in a formulaic tone, gesturing to the adjacent security barrier.

Chen Anran's gaze swept over the staff member, then glanced at another "security guard" not far away who seemed to be maintaining order but was actually watching with sharp eyes. He understood immediately. This was the most common delaying tactic.

"Our luggage has already gone through the security scanner." Qi Lan frowned, looking somewhat impatient.

"This is a random inspection procedure, please cooperate." The staff member said expressionlessly and firmly.

Chen Anran waved his hand, stopping Qi Lan from taking any further action, and calmly said, "Okay, as soon as possible."

The luggage was taken to the baggage inspection station, where two staff members slowly began to look through it, deliberately slowing down their movements. They were particularly "careful" in their inspection of Huiming's package, which contained a few changes of clothes and scriptures.

Time passed second by second.

Huiming clasped his hands together, silently chanting Buddhist mantras, waiting patiently. Qi Lan leaned against the railing beside her, her fingers lightly tapping the metal surface, producing a rhythmic soft sound that showed her gradually waning patience.

Chen Anran stood there seemingly casually, but her gaze pierced through the huge glass curtain wall of the terminal building, looking out at the gloomy sky, as if she were pondering something.

After a delay of about twenty minutes, the baggage check was finally completed "smoothly" without any problems being found.

"Thank you for your cooperation, and have a pleasant journey," the staff member said in a formulaic manner.

Chen Anran glanced at him indifferently, without responding, and continued walking with Huiming and Qi Lan.

As soon as I stepped out of the arrival gate, a young man wearing a volunteer vest with an overly bright smile came up to me, holding a stack of tourist brochures and questionnaires.

"Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to the beautiful Yun City! We are the Yun City Tourism Bureau's 'Warm-hearted Service Team.' Could you spare a few minutes to do a simple tourist satisfaction survey? There's a small gift for you after you finish!" The young man spoke very quickly, almost shoving the brochure into Chen Anran's arms.

Chen Anran continued walking, saying calmly, "No need, thank you."

"No, sir! Just one minute! It's about the image of Yun City!" The young man persisted, trying to block the way slightly with his body, while secretly gesturing to the distance with his other hand.

Seeing this, Huiming stepped forward, put his hands together, and said, "Amitabha, benefactor, we have urgent business, please do us a favor."

Just then, Qi Lan reached out from behind and placed her hand on the young man's shoulder. It seemed casual, but it made half of his body go numb.

"Little brother," Qi Lan's lips curled into a half-smile beneath his hat brim, "you're blocking the way."

The young man felt as if he had been lightly brushed by a car when Qi Lan seemingly casually nudged him. He staggered back several steps before regaining his balance, his face drained of color, and he dared not go forward again.

He clutched his numb shoulder and whispered urgently into the miniature microphone in his collar: "...The demon race is like a human truck, we can't handle it, boss, Plan A-2 has failed."

Chen Anran and his two companions walked without stopping, weaving through the crowd of people waiting to pick up passengers, toward the taxi and airport bus pick-up area.

"These petty tricks are endless." Qi Lan sneered, her sharp gaze sweeping across the surroundings from beneath her hat brim. "Is this all the Feng family can do? Only resort to these underhanded tactics to buy time?"

Chen Anran had already told them about the situation on the way.

"Their intention is to delay, not to fight to the death," Chen Anran said calmly.

Huiming whispered, "With them blocking us at every turn, how should we deal with it?"

"When soldiers come, generals will block them; when water comes, earth will dam it."

Chen Anran was far less calm than he appeared. He didn't know what had happened to Feng Xiaolu that warranted such a large-scale obstruction from the Feng family.

Qi Lan put her hands in her pockets and said, "In my opinion, we should deal with these people with violence and resolve them swiftly."

Chen Anran rolled her eyes. "Then, just like they wanted, I was surrounded and chased by Uncle Hat, and finally taken to the station for a chat."

As they talked, they passed through the airport bus area.

Chen Anran glanced at the sign and walked straight towards the taxi waiting area. The queue there was long and moving slowly, clearly another good place for the Feng family to stall for time.

"Are we really going to have to wait in line?" Qi Lan looked at the long queue, and a dissatisfied click of her tongue came from under the brim of her hat. "By the time it's our turn, it'll be too late."

Huiming whispered, "Master, shouldn't we look for another way? Ride-hailing services might be..."

Before he could finish speaking, a well-dressed, smiling young man stepped forward and introduced himself: "I am Feng Changyuan from the Feng family of Yun City. Why didn't you three inform us of your arrival from afar? We could have sent someone to receive you."

Chen Anran and the other two were stunned. None of them expected that Feng Changyuan would choose to "self-destruct like a werewolf" at this moment.

In fact, Feng Changyuan didn't want things to turn out this way either. Who could have predicted that these three would be so vigilant? They probably already discovered the little tricks he had arranged. So rather than continuing like this and offending two righteous sects at the same time, it was better to stand up openly.

Chen Anran looked at Feng Changyuan, her eyes slightly cold. "Fellow Daoist Feng, you jest. Aren't you here to welcome us?"

Feng Changyuan seemed oblivious to the sarcasm in his words, his smile remaining warm: "Fellow Daoist Chen, what are you saying? Xiao Lu is deeply loved by her elders in the family. As her junior brother, it is only natural that we extend our hospitality to her."

With that, Feng Changyuan gestured for them to proceed, "I have arranged a special car to the main family residence. Please come in, all three of you."

Behind him, two men dressed in ordinary casual clothes, yet with an aura as steady as a rock, appeared quietly. They stood there casually, but subtly blocked any possible escape routes for Chen Anran and the other two.

A sharp glint flashed in Qi Lan's eyes beneath his hat brim. His hands, tucked into his pockets, clenched slightly. A faint but dangerous aura emanated from him, instantly sharpening the eyes of the two Feng family members who had arrived later, causing their bodies to tense slightly.

Huiming stepped forward and stood in front of Chen Anran.

Chen Anran raised her hand and gently placed it on Huiming's shoulder, signaling him to relax.

"The Feng family is truly hospitable," Chen Anran said calmly. "Since we cannot refuse their hospitality, then we will take our leave."

The world created by Qianfanwang of the Wangchuan family can be found in "Senior Sister, Stop Working and Go Home for Dinner".
