"Friends from the sea?" Dui asked, surprised and puzzled.
Then, Kildan took out a golden conch shell and gently blew it towards the sea.
The sound of the conch shell is deep and melodious, with a penetrating power that travels into the depths of the sea.
Before long, several swift figures swam across the sea and quickly approached the beach where Dui and Qierdan were.
They were a group of mermaids, also called Oarni, who were sea spirits who served the couple Maya Ossi and Uni in the ocean realm.
When Dui and his companions sailed through the Misty Seas to Valinor, the first thing they heard was the singing of these mermaids.
The mermaids are very beautiful. They emerge from the sea with their upper bodies visible, their long fish tails appearing and disappearing in the water, and their snow-white hair shimmering in the sunlight.
"Kildan, what do you want with us?" The mermaid at the head of the group, draped in a silver veil and wearing a pearl necklace, asked Kildan in a familiar tone.

Childan spoke in a friendly tone and introduced Dui beside him to them, "This is the wizard Duiel. He wants to find ancient gravel, but the sand on the beach is not old enough."
"And you are sea fairies, your understanding of the ocean is unparalleled. Therefore, I would like to ask for your help: could you tell my friend where I can find ancient sand?"

"If you need, my sisters and I can go to the ranch and bring you some sand."

The mermaid smiled and shook her head. "Those pebbles are everywhere on the seabed of the ranch. We even sift out and discard some of the sand that is too hard, because it will cut the sea queen's (Uni's) delicate feet. If you need any hard pebbles, we can bring them to you now."
"Then I'll have to trouble you!" Dui was relieved to hear this and thanked them.
The mermaids then turned back into the sea and went to Mayauni's underwater ranch to find the hardest and oldest sand for him.
Dui and Childan stayed on the beach, waiting patiently for the mermaids to return.
After a while, the mermaids reappeared.
Dui was eager to go over, but was surprised to find that the mermaids had returned empty-handed.
"Witch Doctor Duir, our lords Ossie and Uni have heard of your deeds and have specially asked us sisters to invite you to our home," the leading mermaid said respectfully.
Invite him to be a guest? Dui was surprised to hear this.
He never expected that simply looking for some sand would attract the attention of two Maya, who then invited him to visit.
