Chapter 51 Orcs
Chapter 51 Orcs
In the morning, everyone got up one after another to pack their things and prepare to set off.
"Where is Gandalf? Hasn't he gotten up yet?" a dwarf suddenly asked.
"Where's Duir? He's not here either!" Bilbo also noticed that one person was missing.
Upon hearing this, everyone realized that they hadn't seen Gandalf and Duir since early morning.
Thorin frowned upon hearing this, looking puzzled. He then instructed the dwarves, "Search around and see where they are. It's getting late; we need to get going."
Before the crowd could scatter to search for the missing person, a green flame suddenly burst into flame in the fireplace.
Gandalf emerged from the flames, saw the crowd, and greeted them with a smile, "Good morning, everyone!"
Then Dui emerged from the fireplace, carrying a pile of things. He said to everyone, "Oh, you're all here. Perfect timing, come and have breakfast. Freshly baked bread and sausages, still warm."
Everyone was astonished to see Gandalf and Duy emerge from the fireplace flames.
Thorin stepped forward, looking at the two with surprise and suspicion, then glanced at the steaming bread in Dui's hand, and asked, "Where did you go?"
Gandalf chuckled and replied, "We were bored, so Duir and I went to the Prancing Horse Inn for a drink, and we brought you breakfast on our way back."
They went to the Prairie Inn? Everyone was shocked to hear this. It was several days' journey from the Prairie Inn to here. How did they manage to do it?
Considering that they had just emerged from the flames, everyone obviously guessed that they had used magic, and they looked at Gandalf and Duy with envy.
Thorin, however, had a deeper thought. He looked intently at Duy and Gandalf and asked, "Since you can use magic to get to the Prancing Pony Inn, could you take us directly to the Lonely Mountain?"
Dui shook his head. "Magical teleportation has conditions. There must be fireplaces in two different locations connected before you can teleport. There are no fireplaces on Lonely Mountain that can be used for teleportation."
Thorin was very disappointed upon hearing this. He was now only focused on reaching Lonely Mountain and reclaiming his homeland, which had been taken over by the dragons.
After everyone finished enjoying the breakfast that Dui had brought from the Prairie Inn, they set off again without further delay.
Before leaving, Dui sealed the tower entrance with a Transfiguration Charm, and then cast spells around the area with his newly learned Muggle Expulsion Charm and Confusion Charm before leaving with the others with peace of mind.
For the next leg of the journey, the group will need to traverse vast, desolate plains, cross the last bridge over the Cangquan River, and then pass through the Ogre Forest before reaching the Misty Mountains, completing half of the expedition.
Between Fengyun Peak and the final bridge lies a desolate wilderness known as the Lone Land. Apart from wandering knights secretly patrolling this wasteland, few people inhabit it.
However, in recent years, with the surge in the number of orcs in the Misty Mountains, orc squads often descend the mountain to raid the wilderness.
Therefore, the once peaceful wasteland has become more dangerous.
The wilderness was vast, and the expedition team had been walking for a week without ever leaving its boundaries or reaching the final bridge.
That night, just as everyone stopped to find a place to rest by the roadside.
Dozens of arrows suddenly shot towards the group!
"Be on guard!" Gandalf reacted the fastest, standing in front of everyone and wielding his staff as a weapon to block some of the incoming arrows.
Dui was taking out his wand to transform the tent when he saw this and reacted quickly, turning his wand around and casting a transformation spell.
The arrows that were shot at them all turned into flowers and fell on the crowd.
Everyone was still shaken; if they had been hit by an arrow, they would have been seriously injured even if they hadn't died.
"Well done, Duir!" the dwarves cheered after they realized what had happened, then grabbed their weapons and immediately rallied.
Bilbo immediately drew the dagger that Dui had given him and stood nervously beside Dui.
As everyone looked in that direction, a group of fifty people emerged from the darkness in the distance.
They were tall, with ugly, distorted faces, protruding fangs, small, red eyes, and wore tattered leather armor. They carried primitive and simple weapons such as bows and arrows, axes, and clubs, exuding a fierce and cruel aura.
They're orcs!
"It's the Orc Squad! Prepare for battle!" Gandalf shouted.
Seeing the orc army that outnumbered them several times over, the dwarves were filled with fighting spirit.
Thorin looked at the orcs with disgust and hatred, for his grandfather and father had both died at the hands of orcs. Now that his enemies had met, he was filled with hatred and gripped his longsword tightly.
"Kill!" Thorin charged ahead, heading straight for the orcs.
The other dwarves followed closely behind, wielding axes, hammers, and other weapons as they charged towards the orc squad.
In an instant, the two sides clashed. Although the dwarves were short in stature, they were very agile and strong, and they cooperated well, targeting the lower half of the orcs.
Gandalf seemed to be infected by the dwarves' fighting spirit, instantly transforming into a berserker, wielding his staff as a weapon and relentlessly smashing and hammering the orcs.
"Wow, are they all this fierce?" Du Yi watched his teammates transform into berserkers, which made him feel a little impulsive, wishing he could draw his flaming sword and start hacking away.
However, considering his fragile mage status and terrible swordsmanship, he chose to stay where he was.
And he also has a weak hobbit by his side who needs protection.
To his surprise, although Bilbo looked a little nervous, he didn't show any fear on his face. Instead, he gripped the dagger Bilbo had given him tightly, looking ready to fight at any moment.
I have to say, he truly lives up to his role as the protagonist.
Dui calmly observed the intense situation on the battlefield, ready to step in and provide support at any time.
Perhaps it was fate that couldn't bear to see Dui sitting idly by.
It's unclear whether these orcs lack intelligence or have poor memories. Seeing that Dui didn't attack, five orcs actually charged towards him and Bilbo, who were alone.
"Wow, are they taking me for a fool?"
Dui sneered, lowered his head and cast an Ironclad Charm on Bilbo, then ordered, "Stay close to me from now on."
With that, he drew his sword from his waist, holding it in one hand and his wand in the other, and charged towards the orcs.
"Freeze them all!"
Dui immediately unleashed a super-powerful petrification spell.
He raised the flaming sword and slashed it down at the orc. The sword was so sharp that it easily sliced off the orc's head, which was then quickly engulfed by the flames spreading from the blade.
Dui felt his adrenaline surge and his emotions were extremely excited. He felt no fear whatsoever. On the contrary, he even felt a secret sense of satisfaction when he chopped off the orc's head.
No wonder Gandalf loved charging forward with his sword; wielding a sword and wielding a wand really do feel different.
Dui easily dealt with the five orcs, and Gandalf and the dwarves were not far behind.
Gandalf wielded his staff with great force; basically, a few blows were enough to bring down an orc.
The thirteen dwarves, led by Thorin, were particularly powerful, easily taking on two opponents at a time.
Soon, the orc army suffered heavy losses, and seeing that they were no match for the enemy, the orcs began to flee.
The dwarves had no intention of letting a single orc go. They chased after him relentlessly until they finally managed to kill the last orc.
The dwarves contributed the most to the battle, killing the majority of the orcs, followed by Gandalf and Duy.
What's most surprising is that Bilbo also has the record of killing an orc.
During the chase of the orcs, Bilbo used the dagger given to him by Dui to throw, killing one of the fleeing orcs and securing the first kill.
The dwarves were so impressed with Bilbo that they accepted him as a member of their team.
